Did everyone else get the paper work in the mail that they are upping the replacement cost of Higher end phones. I just got the BB pearl and its going back since I wont pay 100$ to get a refurbished phone!! CRAZY. When I started with them 10 years ago it was 30$ for replacement phones. BIG jump IMO....Needless to say I am sticking to the low to mid rage phones because of this!

it makes sense...for example compare the m520 to the curve...250 srp and 570 respectively seems logical that the replacement cost would b twice as much. that $50 deductable wasn't designed for smart phones. sprint and asurion are just adjusting their replacement program to account for the increased prices of phones. if i were you i would keep the pearl! its a great smartphone

Correction, all carriers with the exception to sprint have already gone to a tiered deductable rate. Sprint will be the last one to do it.

VZW does not have a tier for insurance replacements (yet). I'm sure with Sprint doing this VZW will have to follow suit.

You are incorrect. AT&T acually dropped the deductible to $50 on most of thier phones. This pricing increase is NOT for all carriers

"most phones", what did the curve do? oh $125 to $50 deductible drop. on topic the Pearl 8110 is 50 so its NOT an increase on all carriers. So you shuddap. (sounds like a 5 yr old).

BTW did he really say the Sprint pearl is 570 retail. Thats insane, thats almost the price of att BOLD that has tons more. why would they charge that insane amount?

And the iphone is still a piece of crap

What does it matter if it's refurbished or not? You probably buy used cars don't you? Atleast the phones have a warranty on them.

1. Why does everyone get so hung up on refurbished phones? 95% of the time you can't tell the diff. and they have the same warranty as a new phone.

2. Do people not realize how expensive phones are? Are the insurance premiums the same on a Ford Focus as they are on a BMW? No. Why does every one always think the cell phone industry is diff. from every other industry?
(i realize this is more than one question, my bad 🙂 )

Bret61081, you truly are an @ssh@t. I'm glad Asurion increased their deductible from $50 to $100 on pretty much all data concentric device (PDAs/Smartphones) as well as high end multimedia ones (Samsung Instinct/M800). This increase will cause customer who have these type of devices to be more careful about losing as well as damaging them. In the years of having TEP, I have never ever had to file a claim. Why? It is because @ssh@t, I take care of my possessions.

Why is it crazy? They understand that many people are doing this on purpose and getting away with it, so they are raising the price because the monthly rate they are seeing isn’t enough to cover their own expenses. That is how insurance policies work. A lot of people are using it, prices go up.

I canceled mine. It's fine for people that can't/don't take care of their stuff, but my phone is babied.

For people that treat their phones like junk and cry about it not lasting for a long time- well, you got what you deserved.

I actually had this guy one time who had activated an old phone on his line because his other phone was damaged. I asked him why he didn't use his insurance to get another phone because he didn't want his insurance premiums to go up for other people. It wasn't for a sprint customer, but I thought that was rather nice
