Best Sprint phone that doesn't require data plan?

I need opinions. Which Sprint phone would you say is the best, that can be used without a data plan? It will be used primarily for calls and texting. Having a decent camera would be nice, as well. What do you think?? 🙂

Check out the Rumor, its what I'm currently using, I blocked data for a bit during hard times and it was still a great phone.
Full qwerty for texting, raised buttons and quick (ish) processor.

That's one that I was thinking about. Is the interface pretty snappy? And how is battery life? Thanks for your help!

I have a review in on it, so I won't go into too much detail, check that out of you want more info.
Battary life is pretty good, but I really don't push it to its limits. I HAVE had it last a full 3 days with massive text usage though.
Interface is simple, nothing special but definatly acceptable.
I do alot of texting and since its a text phone I like what Sprint did with the shortcuts in their software.
Pressing the "up" button on the D-Pad sends you to message creator, lets you choose from your most recently used contacts, and cuts down on menu navigation, which I really like.
Left soft key takes you to your messaging center, meaning easy access to Inbox, Sent, and picture mail.
Overall, I like it, I've also been impressed with its d...

oops, thats the link I wanted to post.
and if you have time to read through it I would definatly read the phone scoop in depth review on the phone, listed at the top of that screen. They do a great job of giving you an unbiased report on their experience with it.

i guess i should elaborate....

the rumor has known reboot issues. it tends to freeze randomly. even tho you dont want data, there is no EVDO on the phone at all. charge port tends to break off the main board.

do yourself a favor and get a rant if you like the rumor.

In which ways would you say the Rant is better?

as a sprint technician i will highly suggest that you do not get a rumor. 90 percent of the phones that we replace are rumors. the main issues with the rumor are :garbled/white/black lcd, power cycling, powering down on its own. the only problems that i have seen with the rant were normal freezing/locking up issues that have been fixed with SW updates. if you get a rumor get insurance, because i guarantee it will need to be replaced at least 4 times

I have had the Rumor since late 2007 and I still have the same one that I bought back then. I've had it shut down every now and then if I stress the battary to its limits, or leave it on for a long period of time, but even then only once or twice a month.
Now I power cycle the device every 2 weeks or so and I have yet to have a single problem. Guaranteeing someone will have a problem with a phone just cuz a few other people have isn't a very smart idea.
If everyone shunned a phone just cuz a few people who got the first release edition of it had problems, phones like the iPhone would have been thrown in the trash a long time ago, instead of becoming one of the most popular phones on the market.

My wife and daughters all have them. All 3 have never had a single problem. One daughter is averaging 6000 text a month and not a problem.

a few phones? we do hundreds of repairs a week.. we get rumors ALL the time. its bound to have issues, because of the way they built them. the ribbon scrapes on plastic and the screen will go white or garble. RUMOR IS TRASH

The Rumor was discontinued for a reason.

The Rant is a Samsung (which in my experience is usually better than LG), similar in feel, great menu system, and it does the TV that the Rumor doesn't (which even though you don't have the data now, should you want to add it later, it's nice).

For the little bit more it costs for the Rant, it's more than worth it.

If I wasn't planning on using data/web, I'd probably go with AT&T. Data is what brought me to Sprint, but if I didn't use it I'd probably use AT&T or Boost prepaid.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the only Sprint phone that requires a data plan is the Instinct. So you just have to decide if you wanna be able to do more then just talk and text.

If you only need talk n text go with the free flip phone because battery life will be longer. Although the camera is not that great

If you still wanna have some cool features and save a few bucks get a Centro. You can take some pretty good video/photo's and put music on your memory card or watch movies and still have a back up of your entire phone on your computer.

Or if you still wanna use internet with out paying for a data plan your can get the Touch Diamond or Pro they don't require data and the wi-fi still works without data so you can use internet at h...
