Right now, Sprint doesn't have the $$$ to do this, even if they wanted to. Plus, I'm betting if they did have the money, they would be looking at a regional CDMA carrier instead to bolster their PCS network.

I feel that if Sprint did have the equity to purchase an iDEN carrier such as Southern LINC, they may very well consider it since Sprint has already stated they are committed to the iDEN network. If they weren't, do you really think Sprint would have launched the Boost Unlimited on January 22nd?

I also am skeptical that SouthernLinc would add that much coverage to their network, as it is only in 4 states, and most of the coverage overlaps with Nextel.

I believe most of the future spending on iDEN will go toward expansion into more markets and the addition of WIMAX to existing infrastructure.

the FCC already gave sprint a deadline to move everyone from the iden spectrum to direct connect on sprint. i can almost guarantee that sprint brought out Unlimited boost right now just to make quick fast cash to keep them in business. people don't have a lot of money, and they are going to look for cheaper plans. People are going to see 50.00 unlimited everything and they are going to go straight for it.. same thing people will do for any kind of discount.

The FCC didn't require Sprint to move everyone off of iDEN completely, what they required was for them to move off a certain portion of iDEN spectrum in exchange for government owned spectrum.

When the exchange is complete, the
