lets say i went to activate a new line at another carrier because they can get me the number i want, them within the trial period, i port the number to sprint and then cancel with the other carrier, can this be done????

Probably. After you activate with the other carrier, wait a few days. Then call Sprint's customer service. Let them know you want to change your number to a number you are porting from another carrier.

It's usually a pretty simple process.
