Nokia brick phone that will work on Sprint?

Hello!

My wife has an old 3588i that is slowly dying and she wants to get another Nokia brick phone.

I found this Nokia 2135 http://www.nokiausa.com/A4817222 that is CDMA 800/1900 and says it will work with MetroPCS and Brightpoint (who?).

Sprint sales cannot guarantee that the phone will activate.

Is there a way to tell if a particular model can be activated on Sprint's network without having an ESN to check ahead of time?

Thank you for helping!

If the phone is PCS/cellular compatible, it should work fine. If it is web capable, your data services won't work, though.

If it works with MetroPCS chances are it wont work. I would try and get the ESN and make sure the phone is WLMP compliant.

I called Nokia and they said they have no phones that work on Sprint.

Bummer!

Thank you for the replies!

i don't think it will work at all, i work for sprint. and even though you can keep your number from provider to provider, some providers will only activate devices w/ their logo on it...and sprint will not activate a phone to their network w/o it being a spint phone...so even though it may be capible of being on our network, sprint will refuse to activate it. there's only like 2 or 3 companies that do that anymore...cricket and metro pcs can but not sure bout any others...sorry dude.

Go to Zendoo. They sell used phones and I saw some Nokia phones there.

Personally I would use one of the old Sanyo phones instead, but to each their own.

Have you looked on ebay for another 3588i? Those things were tanks and we sold a ton of them. If it's been well kept, you probably just need a new battery every few years. In all reality, you'd have a harder time finding a new battery for one than finding several still working 3588s.

They didn't have a lot of features and the menu was pretty maddening, but it was and is a very solid phone.

Theoretically- yeah. But, Sprint won't load the ESN to their database to activate it.
