I'm at 14 months on a 12-month contract. But I can't buy a new phone?
Can I buy an all-new phone and an all-new contract from an online vendor like Amazon? Or would that still not count as a new activation?
I would even be willing to get a new number if it saved me money.
Could I buy a new phone/number and eventually cancel my existing number?
Or, can I do an ESN swap once I have the new phone/contract?

if you are out of your contract, meaning your now paying month 2 month then you shoulkd be eligable for an upgrade. Most companies will not let you cancel and activate under a new number. That is what we call a churn and its fround upon by the FCC. Just go into your direct or call over the phone to customer service to see what phone you can get. If you are out of contract I dont see why they would deny you an upgrade.
depends look at the former ATTWs, you could do two upgrades per year period, 1 with discount, 1 without, then locked out for till 12 months later.Might be the same thing through Spriint

Sprint does not offer an upgrade until you are at 18 months with that handset. You may get a different deal if you call in to Customer Care. I just know in store you have to have that handset for 18 months then you get a mail-in-rebate
Well probelm solved, the guy is only 14 months with the phone, too bad so sad 😈

with sprint if you have had your phone 12 months but less then 18 months you are ligable for 50% of the 2 year agreement rebate if you sign a 2 year agreement. once you have had the phone for 18 months you are eligable for 100% if you only want to do one year contracts you best be getting tep
Yeah but like the OP said they did a 12 month contract, and probably did want to do a 2 year contract then for sure, nd probably now as well so thats why she is up sh**'s creek with no paddle!!!

Thats like what John Kerry did everytime he opened his mouth.
Kind of like you are now? This political comment doesn't belong here, buddy. Let's just say here are plenty of arguments for a similar position from the other side as well.
Wow...providing an example of the policy with another to help clarify the situation is cause for a flaming?
Why don't you take the stick out, Darkstar? 🙄
Besides in 4 months, you will be at 18 months and be able to upgrade. During the 4 months you will be paying a bill for two phones. Plus depending on the credit class, you might also require a deposit, so you might as well just wait and do the upgrade. Another thing to try: Call customer service and see if you can qualify for half of the rebate since you have had your phone over a year. Since you could cancel at anytime without a penalty, they might be inclined to try to save you from cancelling.
