Qualcomm Leaving CDMA???

Sprint Noobie

Nov 16, 2008, 9:16 PM
Not trying to bash on any other company but sprint has been cheap and reliable in my area. I just dont understand why the company decides to go with wimax. Since most carriers now are going GSM LTE. (hope im saying this right.) n e ways considering sprints reputation and deciding to go on with wimax, can they lose this major battle. if wimax fails i definitely see an end to the company i love. will verizon leave CDMA and start using the GSM network? will sprint be the only one with CDMA? i know its a different set of questions but i just had a lot on my mind about this.

LTE is not GSM. LTE is LTE. So VZW is not leaving CDMA for GSM, they are leaving it for LTE.

I have had sprint for 3 yrs now and have just started working for a sprint indirect and i have to agree it seems to be a stupid decision to go Wimax for their 4G technology when everyone else is going LTE. If everyone went LTE, there is a chance that you could POSSIBLY use any handset on any network. While it may suck for sales reps, it would be sweet for customers. However, I dont see wonderful VZW doing that.

some of the technologys are the same. but it the same way around with cdma. they are consolidating the pros from both technologies and putting into one. for more specifics just to go wikipedia and type in GSM, LTE, CDMA, WiMax and you will find a great deal of information

all though alot of it is over the average persons head, it does give an explanation

if anybody has a site that can explain it such as a picture book that would be great

as for the companies wanting to move to lte it is
AT&T
Alltel
Tmobile
Verizon

sprint is the only one with wimax here in the us. which in my opinion they dont want to deal with roaming agreements

If I remember correctly, most companies decided to go with LTE after Sprint had already begun developing it's WiMax. So it's not necessarily Sprint not wanting to deal with roaming.
