Stuck between Verizon and Sprint...

Howdy all 🙂

I really hope that I may be able to get some good advice (preferably unbiased lol).

Here's my deal (I posted a similar thread on the verizon forum): I have been a content sprint customer for going on 5 years. In the last several months, my phone has been getting pretty tore up (in large part due to me). For the last almost 2 years, I've been using the sanyo scp 8400. It has been a durable, dependable phone. I've rarely been without coverage, have had nothing but crystal clear calls...not to mention Sprint's customer service in my opinion has improved tremendously over the last couple of years. However, for the past few months my poor phone has been super-glued together at the hinge, shuts on and off as it pleases and the l...

well in my non biast opinion you should check out our new sprint phones that have push to talk, I understand you dont need that it'll just be an extra feature on the phone but I have had good input by customers that have purchased them, the models are pro200, pro700, z400, and the LX400, check them out you'll probably like them..

I would definately try the Sanyo Pro 700. (If its available in your area) I have this phone as a work phone, I LOVE it..! The speaker and earpeice are the LOUDEST ive ever heard in any device in our store. Its rugged, slim and slender, and the screen resolution is excellent! I honestly thought it was a sticker when i turned it on. I love the speaker for alarm etc.. its so loud. However, it does not have TV or a camera, so no Multimedia capabilities. If your out of contract the phone will cost $130 up front, and you get a $50 mail in rebate. But what features would you actually use and cant live without? Hope this helps! Keep us posted!

I would keep away from the LG and Samsung 400. I would actually say to take a look at the V950 or PRO 700. Both are military spec, the 700 has no Camera, it is a Sanyo phone. The Moto V950 is a very nice phone as far as features, 2.0 camera, MP3 player and is pretty sturdy.

As far as Verizon goes, you have both handsets which is a perfect way of figuring out which has the best coverage for you and call quality.
Sprint offers discounts for 18,000 buisness not to mention any credit union member.

Here is a chart of the two phones, https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/compare.php ?id%5B%5D=1493&id%5B%5D=1505&id%5B%5D=1590&id %5B%5D=&id%5B%5D=
as you can see the reviews are much better, they're smaller and lighter too. Also these phones have ...

I don't see them on the website or as available for an upgrade to my account??

To be honest I don't have a real NEED for tv, or much internet browsing on my phone. It's just something I piddle around with if I'm bored. I also use operamini on my sanyo which is absolutely awesome. but again, it's just an extra...not a necessity. it just kind of urks me sprint can, and verizon can't...simply for the reason they don't want to essentially.

I would prefer to have a camera, as most of my pics on my phone are those great "kodak moments" lol. I am not one to carry around a dig camera all day long.

All about a loud (but non-distorted) speaker phone and of course I need the rugged factor...

Pro 700 for sure! Just no camera...but all the extras you described. I have Opera Mini on my Pro-700, which I love as well! You can receive pictures and send them, just no videos ☚ī¸
Main reason since it doesnt have a handler to support it. But the speaker is LOUD! and not choppy, like it doesnt sound all muffly. Crystal clear. The only thing I fear is its only available in Rev-A markets, and you wont be able to order it. If not PM me and we'll ship one to your residence from our store. Its also rugged, and same 30 day guarantee 😉

Main reason i say it is you dont see it on the website, so i dont believe it'll show up online. IF not, again PM me andf we'll ship one to your home free of charge! 😉
Keep us posted, we dont want you switching to VZ where everything is restricted. I hate it too lol

The best phone out of the bunch so far is the V950 (Renegade). Nothing else is as durable or nice as that phone (IMO)

Or you can always try to find another 8400 on ebay or something if your that attached to it. Since the service and repair replacement is currently a v3m razr. which we all know is awful.

yeah lol let's stay away from the razr. but besides that I tried to get equipment protection with my last upgrade...and at the time I signed up and it hasn't gone through either time lol. oh I've looked for another 8400 on ebay and amazon etc...it's just an all around awesome phone.

on the phonescoop review the v950 says nextel on it but says cdma 850/1900...?

what is sprint doing with it's iden network?

the 8400 has ptt but I've never used it so if it has it so be it.

on the comparison (which thank you, btw for putting together) the moto looks like it has more features?

Moto definately does, which is why it costs $50 buckaroos more. But its a decent device. I just dont like Motos UI. Although they have improved with the latest models.

Unless you plan on spending an average of $60 per month, please don't return to Sprint and stay with Verizon Wireless. Sprint needs customers who are going to use data services as well as voice ones.

That's not too much of an issue...

my sprint bill runs me $105/mo. That's after a $15 loyalty credit every month and a 15% discount as a retention credit when I talked about cancelling to a csr a few month's ago for this same reason.

my verizon plan I signed up for will be $111 before taxes with my employer discount.

I like the fact that verizon wireless bundles their plans where multiple lines can share all the features where as with sprint each line needs a subscription to all the features seperately.

I also like how sprint offers nights starting at 7, with the option of 6. verizon doesn't offer that option for any cost.

I do use data but more for just fun stuff...I have no need for a pda or blackberry or anything...plus...

LOL i know EXACTLY what you mean ha ha. But what do you mean that VZ bundles service plans and Sprint doesnt? Alot of the new plans come with text, pix, and vids included. If you need help with the bill, especially with the nights and weekends at 6, feel free to shoot me a PM! We just dont want you switching to a company that cripples all their products! lol thanks bud I really appreciate all your advice and help...

it's a really difficult choice!

well I'm on one of the old fair/flex plans. with my plan, I have unl txt/pix/power vision (I think they call it media pack??)

I do have a second line, but it's never used. each add'l feature on my primary line has a seperate charge. my secondary line only has 300 sms. but it's also an additional charge.

with the vzw plan I signed up for, it is the "premium nationwide 1350". I get 1350 minutes, unl txt/pix/mms/mobile web/vz navigator. Say if I wanted to add an additional line: that line, too would share all those features as well as minutes without having to pay anything extra except the $9.99 add-a-line charge.

I haven't looked to...

Really? yeah Sprints closest plan is $129.99 a month, for 1500 minutes and includes unlimited Text, picture and video mail, email, sprint TV premier, Sprint Music premier, web browsing, and GPS on both lines. I can check deeper into your corporate discount if it helps, how many totals lines do you have? Theres also one for $99 for 1500 minutes with unlimited text, pix and videos. Since you say you ocassionaly get on the web im not sure if this will fit you better. Let me know! here to help 😉

I have this link:

http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller? ... »

i see the premium plan is for 1400 minutes, couldnt find a 1350. It looks like its $160, whereas Sprints is $130. With your discount, I see its been bumped up to 20%. So with VZ its $135.99 and with the Sprint discount its $104 a month. Same thing, plus a 100 more minutes. Thats if im looking at the plan your on with VZ lol

holy &*$&%@# batman! That changed overnight!

let me log onto my network id here and see if it's the same

Another friend of mine just switched to verizon...he was with t-mobile for a few years and just had it with them so then he changed to cricket...that lasted like a month before he practically threw his phone in the garbage (heck maybe he did lol)...So I was talking to him last night mobile-mobile and he said I sounded crystal clear...he equally sounded very clear....speaker phone, though, on the Gz'one boulder is TERRRRRRIBBBLLEEE!! I can hear him louder on the earpiece? WTF? lol!

ok be back to u in a few...

That looks like a indivisual plan! I don't think that you'd be able to add a line onto that for $9.99. Sprint has the Simply Everything plan for $99.99 that is everything unlimited with your phone. Sprint2008 did show you our share plan 1500talk/message $99.99, 1500 talk/message/data plan $129.99 which both include 2 lines.

well one of our plans that compare to that one is 1500min share first and second line are free and if you want just unlimited texting its 99.99 for both lines and and unlimited texting gives you pic and video mail or you can choose the 1500min with unlimited text and data for 129.99 for both lines now if you add a third line for the 99.99 the third line will cost 9.99 and get all the features and for the 129.99 the third line will cost 19.99 and it'll also have all the features as well....hope that helps

Yeah thats an individual plan! Right under "Nationwide Premium" it says quote:
Verizon Wireless offers the right individual plans to....

So thats an individual plan. Sprint Simply Everything is $99.99 and unlimited minutes. Seems like the guy kinda lied. But then again im not sure if you purposely chose that plan since you barely use your 2nd line...Call in and find out what plan you have! an Individual or Family đŸ˜ŗ

Yeah, my second line is staying with Sprint for the time being no matter what. I'll move it to the basic plan if I choose to keep my main line with verizon. It's still under contract for another year...it was one of those deals where my last phone met the river like a few weeks after I got it lol. So, I went to the sprint store and they told me their suggestion for me would be to activate a new line, and pay the $9.99/mo for the extra line...that it would be cheaper than buying a new phone...and so far yeah it's true...so I just found a little phone on ebay to activate and then I just switched around phones....so literally...I think that second line has been used like twice lol.

Plus if I procrastinate long enough on this decision and ge...
