Is Sprint a good carrier to use?

I am currently a Verizon customer. I tested the Sprint network recently with a Treo 800w. My experience was disappointing. I had the unlimited plan (A great idea). I also liked being able to force EVDO Rev. A. However I found the following issues:
1. Coverage was not as good as Verizon.
2. Voice Clarity was inconsistent, great sometimes and then poor others.
3. The Treo 800w was supposed to be able to be used as a modem, it didn't work. I called Sprint and they said some kind of coding was not completed and tethering would not work until the code changes were completed. They had no idea about timing.

Needless to say I canceled the Sprint Service and I am returning the phone. What are your objective opinions about Sprint qual...

I am not an employee of Sprint, but i am a customer. i travel all across the country and have dropped two calls, one in TN and the other in N Dakota. the service works great for me. And if you want a PDA phone, use sprint... the data network is without question the largest and fastest moblile broadband network.

I do work for Sprint, if you really had a hard time with Sprint working in your area, the palm 800 is a nice phone, but if it's not working, take it back. That's why Sprint has a 30 day grace period. If you believe it might be the phone, exchange it for the same or another phone. But remember the 30 day doesn't start over again.

Work for Sprint, where i live, travel, work and play i have no coverage issues! If your only having issues at home you can probably pick up the airave.

If the price works and you find the coverage is phone based, try out a different phone. If not its not for you and maybe in the future it will!

Sprint's network is simply terrible. Their plans are not bad and their phones are OK .. but coverage and lets not forget customer service both suck.

Depends on where you use the phone. the online coverage tool helps a lot. It works a lot better than at&t where i live and use my phone and laptop.

MegaWhy, we are doing the same thing as you, and are finding similar results. We are Verizon users who are tired of paying 44.99 per line for smartphone add-ons, and our contract just ran out. We are testing one line on Sprint (haven't ported until we are sure). We are also using the Treo 800w.

Where we live shows on the coverage maps as lowest rated for voice, so won't be surprised if it doesn't work out. We have not dropped a call here, but it sometimes comes close. What is surprising is using it at partner's work, which is in the highest rated coverage area. It doesn't drop but cuts in and out...sometimes a lot, sometimes a little. We can always carry on a conversation, but it is disconcerting.

The data speed, on the other ha...
