i went to alaska for a 1 month trip and 15 days in my relatives in Oklahoma got the bill for $1200 (mostly roaming long distance) and it said i had been roaming long distance every call i had made. but the whole time i was there my phone didn't say roaming at any time. it said i was using the sprint network the whole time and a few years ago my dad went and used his phone the whole time and didn't get charged extra. and now ive noticed that our plan doesn't say nationwide roaming like it used to and we didn't change it. we had a sprint fair and flexible plan!!!(which doesn't seem very fair with this bill) and when we called about it the CS rep. said we had an old plan that no longer had roaming included and we had to change our plan if we go...

When the F&F plan came out roaming was an add-on option. If you didn't have the option added on and roamed then it can add up pretty quickly.

How I would approach it, in your situation, is to call and say something like the following:

"I understand I went over my plan, but I wasn't aware of those limits. I also understand Sprint needs to recoup the cost. Customers have the option of current plans (insert plan here that would fit). As way to compromise, I would be willing to pay for the unlimited plan for the month/time my usage changed. That way your company is able to meet its revenue needs based on my usage and I'm able to maintain costs at a reasonable level."

IMO, "overage" is a ridiculous thing that should be capped at wha...

Excellent strategy, the problem with this theory is, you expect service reps to take this honest approach but there is no accountabilty on the customers behalf. Who is to say the customer wont just call back and change the plan after they get what they want?

When I handle those types of situations, I credit back all but the negotiated amount. So, if a person had $400 because of 330 in overage, I'd credit back $300 to bring them down to $100- the cost of an unlimited plan.

I'd also recommend that they change to that plan if they wanted to prevent it happening again next month. If they did not want to change the plan or if they changed it back later it becomes their fault and problem again.
