Rev A vs 3G

Snuggles

Jun 23, 2008, 10:15 PM
I'm a bit confused by speeds of Rev A vs 3G. I have a Sanyo M1 and it's definitely not broadband speeds.

Does Opera Browser make it faster?

The Sanyo M1 only has r0, not rev A. Opera or any other app won't have any effect on the air interface.

What do you mean Rev A is 3G, then why do they use different names and why do tout 3G vs Rev A

EVDO is a 3G standard. Perhaps you meant to say "EVDO Rev A vs. HSUPA." They're both from different families (CDMA2000 and UMTS, respectively), but both are 3G.

So then Cingular and Sprint are the same speed wise, just Sprint is more widely available?

It's a long process I'd have to explain. I'd recommend asking Google or wiki. Don't think I'm being rude, but it would take a long time for me to explain. Good luck in your search, if you decide to look for your answer.

1xEV-DO rA vs 1xEV-DO r0

What does that mean, and only the instinct and Mogul have it?

Honestly he needs to do his homework an stop getting answers from us. He's like the kid in class who drew pictures during lecture then in group projects asked everyone tons of questions.

Snuggles see that box in the top right of the screen, type your question there first.

No, he does not because this is a forum where you can ask questions if you do not know. If we go by your logic then we shouldn’t even have this forum because people can do their homework by researching their question, however, they don’t chose to since it’s easier to ask people who know then to search on Google or whatever website and have a whole host of vernacular they have never even heard of with more complexity than what we would have given them.

Let me explain the harshness of that post. Agreed, I am here to help as much as I can on a forum, but Snuggles asks the dumbest question and in bulk too. I would consider it a waste of time even reading it, but this is kinda what I do on the side to waste time, so I can only get angry at myself.

Let me put it this way, if Snuggles called into cust care as much as he post here with it's questions, Sprint probably would send him a letter with EFT waive. 🙄 (as horrible as a policy as it is)

Who cares? There are many people who aren’t as smart as others when it comes to the telecommunications industry so that’s why there are forums that are created like this one on here to help those people to accumulate knowledge by using this tool. How dare you say its “dumbest question” because quite frankly no question is dumb and if he wants to ask if he can without anyone bashing him? Whats the point of even having these forums if people always ask “dumbest questions”? It does not make any sense sorry. Everyone can research anything they want but they come to phonescoop for instance because we provide the best services for them. It is that simple. We= all of the members plus the moderators....

Wow you have taken this more seriously than anyone should, but I just get tired of HIS post.

I was just agreeing with the other post, you should of saw it when we got angry at him a few months ago.

I am just defending someone from your bashings that is all because it should not be tolerated on here. This is a site where informative information comes from members who know a lot of about technology and if there are people like Snuggles who doesn’t know or who wants it to be explained in Laymen’s terms then so be it. Why would we be critical of him? Does not make sense. my clients ask me 100s of times to explain things to them and other members on this forum and people who I am in contact with do the same. What I do is I explain it to them until they get it. I don’t mind because then they would come to me for more services that I offer whether it’s free or fee based. What if you don’t know something are you going ...

My question is whether I should stay with Sprint or is Cingular just as fast?

Sprint is more widely accepted everywhere while AT&T is not with the 3G coverage. If you are happy with Sprint then stay with it. It depends in some markets and how much spectrum is used but overall Sprint is a bit faster.

I am happy with Sprint although with my current M1, the network is spotty at times, taking multiple times to send one text, having network problems sending mms pics, and taking a while to load web pages. Thats why I was trying to upgrade to a new phone. What I like about Cingular is I can have more then one phone and just switch at will using sim cards.

Well, I would do what is right for you. Make sure that your phone is REV A updated. Also, update firmware and other software.

When is your contract up?
