You'd think with all that free advertising Sprint would be doing better. But what do i know, I'm just a lowly phone tech.

You raise a very interesting point.
My experience has been that a lot of folks think that Nextel phones are only available to corporate and government agencies, and not the general public. The ones who do know that anyone can buy them think that they won't have good enough coverage, in spite of the fact that Nextel covers over 274 million people now.
Sprint Nextel is reworking its marketing campaign, Chief Network Officer Kathy Walker said during a Bear Stearns investor Webcast yesterday. Rather than focusing on the speed of the carrier’s network, Sprint’s new campaign will focus on how customers can use the network to access data services and other multimedia features.
Although she didn’t give specifics, Walker did say that the new campaign will “center around big and fast and immediacy and being able to do things now.â€Â
