Ok this is getting on my nerves, I let my battery charge all night, unplug it and then don't even use it. The battery is drained by 10pm that night and that's with out any usage. I know one post told me to download software to my computer and then sync my phone with the computer but I am not sure what he meant by that and why would that help?

Two recommendations:

1) If you have used Sprint Navigation, be sure you go through the menus to exit from the program. I just hit back or end, but that doesn't dismount the GPS module which sucks a lot of juice.

2) My wife's 8830 suddenly was using a ton of battery, so I turned it off, took out the battery, and reinserted it. It is working fine now.

I don't know if either of these will work, but give them a try first. If you do need to go the software route, plug the USB cable to your computer and BB, load up the software CD that came with your phone, and then do a software update. You can probably also load up the updated software from the BB website.

I did notice this cross hair icon right below the time. It had a strange symbol next to it or coming out of it so I went to GPS and turned the option off the strange symbol went away but the crosshair icon is still there. What are these icons and is the crosshair icon supposed to always be there?

two things.....Dont charge your battery over night it overcharges it and takes away from the charge the next day....and i gave directions on how to download the desktop software just go to sprint.com/downloads and it will all be up on there......other than that just make sure you have backed out of all the programs you've been running (ie: navigation or music store) if you just hit end it wont turn them off you have to hit the back button until it asks you to exit.

I don't use any programs on my phone but I stated earlier this crosshair icon and whether this is my GPS icon or not. If this is my GPS and it was turned on is there a fee? I have no clue how or why it was on because I never activated it.
