vzw and sprint did merge? i dont think anyone could compete with them. im not talking bad about any other carrier but how do you think att got all those customers, merging with cingular. just a thought. i think that would help both companies

Looking at the coverage areas of the two companies, I don't see any benefit of a merger between the two since the majority of the areas each of them have coverage overlap quite a bit. Don't forget you have a foreign interest, Vodafone, to content with the DOJ.

Remember Verizon Wireless is partially owned by a foreign wireless carrier, Vodafone, who has been trying to gain more conrol in Verizon Wireless which I believe is currently at 40% with the remainder run by Verizon Communications, the largest NE LEC.
