What is it with Sprint? I don't understand why it is that they do not offer something better for customers who have been with them so long. At&t is offering Blackberry's for $99.00, I know Sprint is offering the Palm Centro for $99.00 but that phone is crap, my friend has only had the phone for 2 weeks and has had so many problems with it already. T-mobile offered to give me a Shadow for $89.95 and that's kind of enticing. I just feel that Sprint needs to step up their game with the loyalty towards customers who have had service for such a long time. It seems as if the only way to actually get a good deal is to threaten to cancel with account services. Maybe it's just me...

also, keep in mind that you've just mentioned 2 GSM carriers. Compare our (Sprint's) prices to Verizon since their phones are the same technology.

They will offer to people that will make sense on a business side. Not what is good in your mind. And again I say it all the time what other service offers anything for being with them so long? Electric? Landline phone? They are not going to offer you the world just to stay with them as you would cost them money. Do you think its surprising that the two best performing large carriers have the least amount of people with them? Alltel and USCC. They have the highest stock and best profitability. Just something to think about!

why do you think alltel and USCC have the fewest subscribers?
99.13% of customers couldn't give and wouldn't give an albino ringfooted ferret's left hindquarter to care about how profitable their carrier is (there was a study done). what a customer wants is coverage that meets their needs, a plan they can work with and a device that works for them. Everyone and everything else can go to hell as far as they are concerned.

true but the company won't be around long if they are not profitable or would be able to pump money into their network.

it costs a carrier more to for advertising etc than to keep an existing customers. to be honest with you most carriers dont make money off a customer until they have been with em a year. in my opinion carriers should do more to keep their existing customers

So what should they do to keep current customers?

Offer some sort of better upgrade policy for existing customers. Do as VZW does like offer an extra $50.00 or $100.00 off the already promotional pricing for a phone.

I don't know if sprint still does this but if a customer upgrades, do not charge an $18.00 or $36.00 activation fee for upgrading after you have waited long enough (22 months) to upgrade.

not really sure how you being with them "so long" has anything to do with your picky nature with phones. They have a similar style phone for a similar price, and Sprint usually de-pants' VZ on PDA prices anyway, so if you really wanna complain, come over to VZ and see how we treat ya for being a "loyal" customer.

Thank you guys, i just needed some opinions on what exactly your responses would be based on what these customers tell me every day. I am definitely in accordance with what you all have to say, it's sad how these multi-billion dollar companies don't really care anything about their customer's loyalty to their provider, and that's on all levels including electric providers and even employers. Honestly though that's the way of the world 😁

It's not really loyalty when they threaten to jump ship if they don't get what they want. Why should a customer be rewarded for doing what they are supposed to? Then minute they don't' like something, they threaten to go somewhere else. That doesn't sound like loyalty to me.

true. You should want to be with them due to network, price and how it works for you. Not what they give you for free if you threaten to cancel or what you will get for being with them so long.

A lot of customers try to play the "grass is greener" card to the reps, but since the people that work in the industry know the hue of the fescue, we don't buy it. Then the cust thinks we're BSing them, so they leave, only to have the same scenario play out 2 yrs later.

It always amazes me how many people come in to my store and want a new, discounted (if not free) phone w/o a new contract. When I tell them we can't do that, they'll say "well, (insert competitor's name, typically VZW) will give me that price, I'm leaving..."

I bet only maybe 5% of those that say they are leaving ever do even if they don't get what they wanted.

Are you talking about them offering the Pearl for $99?

Because our Pearl has a lot more features than AT&T's .... just throwing that out there.

And because your friend is having problems with the Centro doesn't mean its crap because it isn't, maybe you should try it out for yourself and form your own opinion on it instead of your friends.

Keep in mind the prices you see in the ads are focused at "new" customers. AT&T, and all carriers offer different prices for current customers.

Sprint believe it or not is being very helpful to customers on giving deals on plans and phones such as the pearl. Yes I know threatening your account is weak but if you explain to them that you want your competitors plan price matched and phone price matched and tell them your satisfied with Sprint's service but want to be met halfway for your loyalty with them they can work magic. One of my associates has done this and he has the pearl now with 1500 atm for 29.99, nationwide long distance, nights starting at 7pm of course, free roaming (duh) and was given the cheapest price for the blackberry pearl that you can possible get from any carrier. Another thing is that the Palm Centro is not crap its an extremely decent phone. Its capable of doi...

your EXACTLY correct! the Centro is an excellent phone! and for being such a "long" customer as well as threatening to cancel a few times, I bet you have a plan set for you that is un-beatable! hey I just calgled up T-mobile on my girlfriends account anthe rep asked me what phone I had with which carrier. told him th HTC Mogul with Sprint. rght away he said he can give me the HTC Shadow for just $84.99
he said since I hae an HTC phone there wuldnt be much to learn on the shadow. the price you saw is for any new line of service. every company is like that. Sprint DOES reward you with discounts on phone upgrades, just depends if you want more, more and MORE! when I called T-Moble their service wasn't as good as everyone praises to be. but hey...
