I dont really care about NASCAR

but I think its hilarious that Jeff Burton is going to race with nothing on his hood. NASCAR made the team take the AT&T globe off the hood and the team cant wear anything that says AT&T on it. Score one for Sprint.

The whole issue just seems silly to me. The company can change its name and logos throughout the universe with the apparent exception of a paint scheme on a race car. The whole spirit of the grandfather clause was to prevent any new telecom sponsorships or the move of the existing ones from one team to another. Why, in the world of NASCAR, AT&T should have to remain Cingular just baffles me. It's not like a simple name change. NASCAR obviously allows broadcasters to sell ad time to AT&T during the race telecasts, so why should they cry foul when they want to just reflect their company name on the car?

The logo on the car is worth sooo much more then an add on a commercial. If that car is in the lead for I don't know say more then 30 secs don't you think that is worth it. What if your team leads most of the race and that team also wins? How much more valuable do you think that time is then say your 30 sec TV ad? Also, if that were to transpire will people be thinking of the Sprint/Nextel cup or will they be thinking the number 31 AT&T Jeff Burton car won the race this week? Lets not forget that NASCAR is the most popular sport in the US (again I'm not really a big fan) and my favorite show will air the race highlights (Sportscenter, another highly rated show) about ten times that day.

The point of the rant is of course it makes sen...
