Ray Carroll lacks the tact to keep himself secret, he just the way the user talks and his mannerisms in the threads give him away off the bat. It just takes Rich and/or Eric awhile to ban him

I'm sure everyone who has been banned is still posting away at Phone Scoop. The problem I see which Rich and Eric will have to address is preventing banned members from signing in from an IP. From my understanding, they can prevent people from signing up new screen names from a particular IP so I wonder how difficult it would be to prevent signing in as well from an IP.

BTW, instead of Ah Hell...Go to Hell to RC. 😈

When you are at work, your IP changes every few seconds for security reasons. So a banned IP wouldnt matter if you signed up while at work.

blah blah blah....

question: if you had a computer plugged in, then you plugged in a netgear router to split the signal to a computer and laptop, would the router have it's own IP?

No, the IP of the router is assigned by the ISP. All the router will do is assign a sub IP to the PC and one to the laptop.

So the wall can detect, and perhaps shut down, my use of a router? because I think my apartment won't let us use one.

No they can not as far as I know. All a router does is allow multible computers to use 1 IP. There should not be a reason to disallow a router/hub. The router also allows to go wireless on the network. What they might not allow is wireless routers, because if the wireless router is not encrypted, other users can log onto your account without your permission.

A home desktop PC and a laptop/notebook computer can not share the same IP. Each one has to have their own individual one which is what the router does. It takes the IP assigned from the ISP and splits it into as many sub IPs for each device on the home network. I'm sure mobile_trojan, mobile_spartan and/or Yean will be able to back me up on this point.

If you read your thread a second time...

"No they can not as far as I know. All a router does is allow multible computers to use 1 IP. There should not be a reason to disallow a router/hub. The router also allows to go wireless on the network. What they might not allow is wireless routers, because if the wireless router is not encrypted, other users can log onto your account without your permission."

you stated in the second line that a router allows multiple (not multible) computers to use one IP.

Wireless routers work pretty much the same as a wired one regarding assigning sub IPs. The most current encryption which will provide the most secure network is WPA-PSK.

You guys seem to be going back and forth. My only problem is that my Router seems to not shoot internet to my laptop, and I've heard a rumor around town that Qwest has disabled the use of routers for our apartment complex.
