Sanyo 8400 vs Samsung Uptsage?

I'm getting a new phone soon (I hope, I think I said the same thing back in January, lol). I like the Sanyo 8400. My husband keeps pushing for the Samsung Upstage because it "has more features." Honestly, I don't care much about the additional features offered by the Upstage. I want speaker phone, removable memory, HAC rating of at least M3 (or TTY compatible), and power vision. I know the 8400 has all of these. I didn't see anything on the Sprint website about speaker phone or HAC/TTY for the Upstage, though. Could I have overlooked these? (I have to have a phone that my deaf cousin can use when she comes over to babysit, so HAC or TTY is important - preferably HAC. She can kind of hear a call on speaker phone, too).

Also, which...

8400 hands down. No speaker on the upstage because there is no room.. I think the 8400 is only second best to the M1

Thank you. 🙂 Based on reviews, I was thinking the same thing. The Upstage, to me, looks like something a 15 year old would want. But, thought I'd ask the people who work with these phones every day, just in case you knew something I didn't. 🙂

SpintManager??? How about S P R I N T? Typical response from an indirect dealer. Anyway, the Samsung Upstage (not UPTSAGE) does have the speaker phone ability, is TTY compatable and have the better battery life of 6.3 hours of digital talk time when using the battery wallet. Plus the Upstage's storage is expandable also for multimedia such as photos.

is being rude really all that necessary? yeesh, i'm pedantic as hell but even i'll let a typo slide.

if my two choices were the 8400 or upstage i'd go with the 8400 hands down and i'll tell you why. the upstage has two major deal breakers for me:

1. packing so many features into a 2 sided super thin phone left no room for a removable battery. forget that, if i can't replace my battery when needed on my own it's not worth it. i refuse to go to a svc. tech. just to change a battery.

2. texting is hardly effecient. i text a hella lot more than i talk so this flip to media side to start text, flip to phone side to text on tiny 2 line screen, flip again to send... i don't think so. it could have the greatest sound, 100 gigs,...

Pretty hypocritical to criticize someone else's typo and then make one yourself. And being proud of being rude is just mind boggling.

Actually you can create and send a text from the phone side. No need for all the flipping you implied.

8400 no doubt about it, i would stay away from any samsung especially one with an internal antenna. it does make a difference.

I think you answered your own question.

You are looking for a PHONE which in that case, go with the 8400.

The Upstage is nice, however it lacks practicality because of the constant flipping. I personally think they should have chosen a different keypad layout and move the logos around to the bottom to make the screen a little bigger.

I've owned 4 phones, two have been Sanyo and two have been something else... I was really wanting to stick with Sanyo, and now it looks like I have good reason to do so. 🙂

Thanks for the responses!
