My fiancee just renewed her contract and got a new phone. The rep at the store told her that 'it is store policy for all phones to have insurance when they leave the store for her own protection.' Any fact to this???

umm.. maybe their store policy to get them paid for the feature add... lol.. or it might be so they dont have to deal with customers who come in with broken phones and no insurance acting in amazed bewilderment when they are told to buy a new one a regular price which is usually at least 4times as much as the amount originally paid for the phone. i mean they said "STORE" policy not company policy which is much different... as long as it doesnt violate the carriers tos the store can also impose other terms for selling you the phone at a low cost.

Unless it is a corporate sprint store, in which case they are very much in violation.

Where is the store located?

Sprint Nextel Inc. corporate stores can not force a customer either activating a new line of service, adding another line of service to an existing account or upgrading their handset to place any of the three handset protections(ERP/ESRP/TEP) plans made available to them on their Sprint account. In other words 8091nafsbuc, whoever told your fiancee that information should be reported to his/her store manager or even better, find out who the RSM is of that particular store of what had occured so an internal investigation if deemed necessary can be launched.

Wow Ray, it couldn't have been an indirect dealer or anything, making up their own rules as usual? Way to jump to conclusions

I actually agree with Ray on this one, believe it or not. He's simply letting nafsbuc know what company policy is so he is no longer duped.

As a salesperson for Sprint, I truly detest it when people "require" certain services to be added, when they really aren't, in order to get extra spiffs.

The rest of us (who are honest) get yelled at for not selling as much as they do.

Exactly! I caught one of my co-workers slamming people with TEP AND data and told my manager, who reported it to the RSM, and NOTHING happening. He's still with the company (just in a different store). He left 2 months ago and I'm still having customers coming in asking why they are paying for "internet".

one thing I take from the internet. Either they are being who they want to be because they can't in real life or they are like that in real life. Either way you get to know the real them.
