H 😕
My trusty 8300 finally bit the dust so I went to my local sprint store yesterday to get an upgrade.
I walked out with the M500 for $80 and a $30 MIR.
I've had the phone for a couple days now it's nice having such a thin phone but no speakerphone and ringtones are not nearly as loud or clear as my 8300. Now that I read the comments here about poor battery life I'm thinking maybe I made the wrong choice.
Do you guys think its worth and extra $20 in hand and $30 rebate to go from the M500 to the 8400? Or am I just feeling this way since this is my first non-sanyo phone in 4 years.
...
YES go back and get the 8400 you will get everything your 8300 plus bluetooh and an mp3 player. you can also choose between 3 colors too
...
just get the m1. sorry i love that phone lol.
...
fell the same way. The best phone I have had from sprint in 7yrs!!!
...
so it is agreed, that the M1 OWNS!!!!!
...
its a nice jukebox when your bored 😁 😉
...
Full time student right now so $200 if out of the picture. Can you guys let me know what you think about the Samsung M500 and the Sanyo 8400?
...
i personally like the m500 better. 8400 is ok, but I cannot stand the keypad and the camera is subpar for a 1.3mp.
...
The camera is almost a non-issue for me. I prefered the camera on my 8300 since i could used the phone as a flash light (great feature).
...
What I mean is the flash on the 8300 can be trigger by holding a button on the side when the phone is closed. Does anyone know if the 8400 does this also???
...
If I need a multimedia phone I think I'd be more inclinded to get the fusic since it has upgradable memory. 4gb SD are already getting extremely cheap its only going to be a few months before microSD cards reach that capacity.
...
the m500 also has micro sd, Stereo Bluetooth and mass storage mode.
...
The sanyo doesnt have microSD? Didn't realize that.
...
it does, but not stereo bluetooth
...
The 8400 also has MicroSD and I've never once used a headset let alone bluetooth. I might if started using if for music but I don't think BT would be a good route for music.
...
stereo bluetooth is well worth it, my car has it, and i use my phone in place of my ipod for short trips
...
Thanks for clearing that up. I'll definately try out the keep pad on the 8400 first. I txt alot so thats important. As far as the other things I don't think they apply to me so much. I don't have anything BT right now and I'm pretty sure my car is going to outlast my phone (hopefully).
In the last 2 years I had my 8300 I took maybe 3-4 pictures with it. 1.3MP isn't going to make me leave my camera at home with either phone.
The way I see it if I switch to the 8400 I'm trading the slim design of the M500 for a phone with a better talk time, speaker phone, and higher res screen (I surf the web on my phone); and paying $50 more. I guess for $50 I could get the extended battery for the M500... I should check out how big that will make the ...

Just a little fyi..
The M500 does in fact have a speakerphone. It is not as loud as the 8400 but it does have it. Sanyo phones in general have a lot better reception then other brands, however the m500 does very well.
M500 is a great great phone and so is the 8400.. The M is A LOT smaller then the 8400, but the 8400 is a little bit better (reception, battery, speakerphone is louder).
...
Well after everything I ended up getting the Sanyo M1 and I'm very happy with my purchase. It has great reception and I can make calls in parts of my house that neither the M500 or my 8300 could. All in all everything I wanted.
