keeping old plans with new phones

ajstrong

Just wondering how easy that would be; no, I'm not looking for corporate to respond "you must upgrade your plan when upgrading your phones." As VZ indirect, I can go around that on alot of occasions.

Possible? likely? Love the old F&F plans with 100 extra min. for $5, dislike the service in my area. Considering staying if I can keep my plan.

Should not be a problem to keep your plan if you upgrade phones. The only issue is if you go from a non power vision phone to a power vision phone you have to change your data package. That means if you have one of the old vision plus text plans you will lose it. But keeping the voice plan is no problem.

the only exception i can think of is the hybrid phones, they require the power-pack plans.

thanks, jm & m_t. neither of us have text plans, nor do we have vision plans, so we should be set; could we keep our voice plan if upgrading at a corporate store?

Just FYI for those that do have a vision plan with text and upgrade. It is possible to keep it. I have 4 times. They keep saying I need to change and I tell them they get rid of the option and I am gone. I have kept it everytime! I have an M1 with my old unl vision and text and the wife has a fusic with the free vision and text.

if you go from non power vision to power vision, you have to change the whole plan, if your current plan is expired.

no you dont. you just add power vision to the package, a whole plan change is not required. the only time a plan change is required is when they dont have a plan at 34.99 or higher. so the only ones that would have to change their plans is the customers that have the old F&F 200 mins for $29.99 or really old plans (like a lady came in with a very old plan that included 20 min plan for $20 a month) other than that your just taking away what might be really good plans for some of our old customers.

yeah, ya do. They can't add to an expired plan, expired plans don't show up in the system anymore.....

no you dont..... you arent changing the PLAN itself your just adding power vision. and yes some plans you can add to, you go into historical codes, for example you cant start a new family plan but you can add an add-sub to an exsisting one. how many ppl are you screwing by making them change their entire plan around when the one they arleady have works fine for them?

IM not screwing anyone. I'm a 3rd party rep who is stuck with using FAST, and when I do upgrades on customers who have really old plans, like 3 years old, FAST always pops up some sorta error, cant remember what it's called, but it's right after i click "keep current plan".....then I have to call in the upgrade, in which case ...

ah maybe thats it, i wasnt aware you were using FAST, i apologize. but if they come into a store, we can keep their plan for them and whoever you are talking to just wants to get them in a new plan for whatever reason i really dont know. maybe their bosses are trying to get everyone to switch and get them away from fair and flexable but again i apologize cause you really have nothing to do with changing anyones plan.

yeah, if you guys are getting iRMS then it is going to be sooo easy and once you get the hang of it you can have a person upgraded/ activated in 10 mins or less, depending on how many questions the customer has, but yeah as long as the plan an attachments are discussed its a piece of cake.

Better to call customer care to switch the esn to the new phone if you have any kind of historic or special plan. I had to call twice and stay on the phone for over an hour to keep my plan when I upgrade to a power vision phone and keep my same plan. Where I got vision for free now I have power vision for free. Just be very nice and polite but persistant and if you can tell they're not going to budge hangup and call back. It probably helps that I used to work as a rep so I know how to work the system 🙂

People need to understand that 3rd party retailers are more constrainted than an actual sprint store which is under more constrainted than the call center reps in terms of doing these things. Its how the technology is setup.

Just try to...

YES YOU DO!!!!! If the plan is EXPIRED, meaning THEY TOOK IT OUT OF THE SYSTEM, there is no way to add power vision to it! It won't even show up in the system.....not trying to argue about it, but, every time I do an upgrade for a customer who has a really old EXPIRED plan, they ALWAYS want to keep their old plan, but every rep I talk to ALWAYS says the plan is expired and they have to change it! Now, unless...

he wasnt talking about us telling him that he can keep it, he's talking about reps telling them he has to change it, besides we found out hes using FAST. and he heard that 3rd party retailers are told to take ppl off the F&F plans. dont know why they would do that but they are, sooooo its not his fault for getting wrong info. 🙂

Some features on legacy Sprint wireless plans may be able to be kept. It's not a guarantee, but you may want to call customer care while you're at a retail store/kiosk before you leave with your new handset and check with them to see if your legacy features may be reprovisioned onto your service.

Minute plans CAN stay the same. Requirements from Sprint is a base plan of $34.99 or higher, Vision or Power Vision enabled phones require Vision or Power Vision, and the 2 year agreement. If you're talking about the add on services, such as Vision, Power Vision, Ready Link, etc. The add on service may require a change due to the device. Example: grandfathered 2000 minute plan with Vision and unlimited text attached to plan, can be LOST if the device doesn't support Vision. You want to make sure if you want to keep what you have on your plan, or change the device such as Power Vision and pay more to receive more. Check your plan and devices, and go to your local Corp store for further assistance.

'require' vision or Power vision . . . 🤣

Nothing is required. All those 'requirements' are for employee commissions.

BTW, how long does a custie have to keep a data plan for the commission not to be charged back to the employee upon cancellation, or does Corp not have to worry about that?

Read the rebate forms or go to sprint.com. You're right, nothing is required, that's if you want to spend the retail price. A 'custie' and cancel when ever he or she likes. To answer you question, I'm not sure. I'll find out for you.

Frusteration is my main emotion when hearing such 'requirements' my superiors stress that to me as well; it increases our data take rate, but the data churn is just as high if not higher. would I be able to 'get a month free' then cancel the next day?

I'm leary of that, for the last time I attempted to cancel a vision pack, the service was cancelled, the charges were not. I had fun with the rep that did that one.

If you're a third party Sprint representative, you pay structure is different. You may want to get in touch with your supervisor. The whole part of retail is sales. That's what you need to do to the customer. Inform the customer the benefits of add on services. Qualify the customer.

I'm Verizon indirect; I was just wondering how Sprint's commission structure went; our custies have to have products 6 mo. for us to keep our dough.

thanks for the sales tip ;)

think it was more to do with trying to keep churn down, you tend to be a little more friendlier when you have to keep them happier longer for you to get paid for it. 🙂
