So what's the big deal with WiMAX, its been deployed the last couple of years already in a couple cities in florida....Cingular just offloaded a bunch of its spectrum for 300 million to Clearwire b/c they don't need it.

When AT&T/cingular launches their HSPA+ which will provide 28Mbps downloads and 11Mbps uploads not only will you have data access at those rates but you will prob have your T.V. provided wirelessly....you will be able to stream HD channels with the kind of bandwidth at&t will provide......so again, what's the deal with WiMAX?

Umm try they had no choice. Part of their merger agreement!!

And stream HD channales. I doubt it. One HD channel require 32 mbs. And that is with quite a bit of compression. The speeds you just posted were at best. All the phone companies except verizon are going to be dealing with bandwidth problems as it takes allot to shove video data and voice. I say verizon won't have a problem as they are the only ones going fiber to home. WiMax is 4g which If I read write will provide and is cabable of speeds around 50mbs or greater. HSPA is 3g.

HSPA is 3g is greater capacity then GSM but still offer the same range with UP TO 28mbps. but with calls on the network is decreases it drastically.

wimax is a data only tower and can handle 70mbps up and down in the labs. realistically probably 30-50mbps. all ip with possibly voip being lauched.

HSPA will never be able to compete with wimax and will take longer to deploy then 4g.

i cant say sprint is better then cingular on voice but data already killed cingular even though its slower.

we will just have to wait till fall for wimax to be deployed and priced but i will have to say wimax will probably be as cheap as dsl probably almost cable modem prices

A new revision to wimax allowing speeds up to 1 gbps has been demonstrated in labs. This revision is expected to be available around 2009 or 2010.

Okay so whats the number one complaint, and the biggest fault that customers seem to settle with and just deal with. Dropped calls b/c of line of sight service. WiMax is not line of site, you can do VoIP with it and have no dropped calls, blanket coverage. This is going to revolutionize the wireless world.

Sprint is pioneering the future of wireless.

Thats why we passed on MediaFLO...
