Ready Link?

SprintChicago

😕 So, what happened to it (ready link)? I haven't used it but i kinda got curious about it. How it sounds, overall quality of the "call" and such. I heard sprint was getting rid of it. Have they already done so? I don't see it on our Brochures anymore. I know it wasn't really a big seller and not alot of people have it. But hey when you can make a call for free why pay an extra $5 to talk to someone you can call for free. Any feed back would be appriciated.

Thanks, 😁

They (Sprint) claimed to be working on a way for RL phones and DC phones to communicate, but not much being said about that now. Now, they are making hybrid phones (PCS for voice, IDEN for PTT) and seem to be abandoning ready link altogether.

Eventually, Sprint will have Q-Chat on the PCS side, and will phase out both RL and DC. The new PTT will work over the Internet, and will have initial connection speeds close to DC.

The benefits to this newer technology will be advanced features and capabilities, presumably things such as PTT call waiting, do not disturb, or user not available messages beside contacts, etc.

I have ordered a new hybrid phone and will let you know what I think about it. Keeping an open mind.

I used to use RL all the time to talk to my brother, and sister, and co-workers. I loved it, as the initial connection was not as quick as DC but it was better in my opinion then all the carriers *except nextel of course*. It is loud and clear, you can customize the sounds it uses for recieving/sending. I got rid of it cause my brother got a new phone that didn't have it and he was the primary person i talked to on it, really enjoyed it. Im waiting for the new Hybrid phone with the camera/evdo to come out then ill hit that up 😛

I appriciate all your input. I just like the look/style of sprint phones over the hybrid phones but i'll keep my eyes open for info on that q-chat info. thanks.

The ic902 that is coming out will be pretty hot I think... although I don't know what it will look like the feature list is everything you could want in an "unintelligent" (non-smartphone) device IMO.

But yes, Qchat is definitly something to be looking forward to.

I just read that it (Qchat) is PLANNED to come out in early 2008. I googled "sprint Qchat" and it was the first link:

www2.sprint.com/mr/news_dtl.do

i read it on my phone so i'm not sure if this link will work.
