**ESN TRANSFER?**

If I want to buy a phone off ebay, what is the procedure for acquiring the ESN? Would the previous owner have to do a liability transfer or similar?

How do i know if the ESN is clear?

no transfer of liability, just message him, ask for the esn HEX and DEC. if he is unwilling to give it to you, dont buy it. if he does, call customer service or tech support, ask if they are clear, and we will tell you if they can be put on another acct.

thats it.

make sure the phone model matches the one he is selling otherwise your blackberry might end up being a cdm 105 😉

likewise i have had an instance where the phone was a sprint phone. but somehow it was privatized. meaning that it can no longer be activated in the systems at all. period. so look out for that too.
