Sprint/Nextel
Will Srpint and Nextel eventually merge their technologies? Or will they operate two brands of wireless under the same parent company? Thanks,

i called customer service, and they told me that yes they will be creating phones that will be CDMA/iDEN. CDMA for cellular calls, and iDEN for walkie talkie. I am not and will never be a Sprint subscriber, but i was just interested because the merger didn't seem like it made sense since they operate on two different networks. The AT&T/Cingular merger made sense because they work on the same network. the Sprint merger didn't really make sense to me but they told me that we should be seeing these new phones in about a year or so.

Well congratulations, you are now a sprint customer unless you happen to fall into a partners market, which that merger will be complete by years end.

THEY WILL MAKE CDMA/I DEN PHONES BUT ITS ONLY GOING TO BE FOR DURING THE MERGER PURPOSES ONLY.(FROM WHAT I HEAR). SORT OF LIKE GAIT PHONES DURING THE UPGRADE AND MERGER OF AT&T AND CINGULAR. SPRINT PURCHASED (OR "MERGED" TO KEEP NEXTEL FANS HAPPY) NEXTEL ONLY FOR THE 3G SPECTRUM. WHICH WILL BE WIMAX AND WILL OFFER VOip ON WI-FI AREAS TO SAVE THERE CUSTOMERS MINUTES. AND WILL HAVE A LONGER RANG AND A BIT FASTER SPEED THAN REGULAR WI-FI. WHAT THE WILL DO WITH IDEN AND NEXTEL TOWERS IS SAY BYE BYE.
