Can you believe this crap?!

I started having problems making calls with my Sony Ericsson T68i today and went to the Cingular store to either get it fixed or replaced. The phone was out of warrentee and i was going to do an insurance claim and they told me that the only phones that they could replace it with were two discontinued phones the T68i and the T306 or the Motorola V60gi. They only had the V60i in stock and said it was either that or a refurb T68m! So i told them that that is totally unacceptable to offer me 2 phones that they don't even sell any more or a totally out classed phone.

Siemens A56i

Has anyone heard anything about Siemens releasing an A56i model?

All I know is that a display model for it exists, that it's not on my price lists, and that I've heard of no specs on it.

v400 vs v600

have a few questions on these phones

1) can either of these phones be used for uploading jpeg photos from from my
computer to the cell phone to display the photos and the cell phone screen.
I'm not refering to pictures taken with the phone camera, I mean to take
jpeg pictures off my pc hard drive and storing them on the cell phone for
viewing. It's my understanding that both phones have a 5mb hard drive.

2) if this can be done, how would you do it with the v400 as it is not USB
only the v600 is

3) what is pc sync- I dont believe the v400 has that feature

4) what is sync ml?

I really want the v600, but my current phone has had it, the screen doesnt
even display any longer and i need a phone now, I currently have cingular

CDMA or GSM, HELP!

Hi All!
I am a current Verizon user in the S.F.-Bay area, and have excellent service with them for 4 years now. But I have been intrigued for a long time with GSM service and the phones connected with it. I need peoples input and opinions here. Is GSM better than CDMA and why? I heard the voice quality is better, but is it by much? A year or two ago, I heard GSM was terrible here(as far as signal strength, dropped calls, etc)...has it improved? From what I've seen on the maps and from what co-workers and friends say, it is yes. Now if I decide to go GSM's way, I've decided to go with either AT&T or Cingular, because they have the upcoming 850 frequency besides the already existing 1900. T-Mobile only has 1900 from what I've seen.
So betwe...

Number portablity not as hard as it seems

in the wash/balt area all carries have to be ready nov 24th cingular will let you take your number over regadless of if your account is current, suspended, or still under contract (you will pay early termination fee if under contract) even prepaid and home numbers can carry over. theres not much detail on eligiblity, just that the FCC has told all carriers to make the trans smooth as possible. the downside it will take some time for the activation to complete up to 3hrs for (wireless port) and a day for (landline port). it will be crazy the first week most likely being that were going into black friday. but well see what happens

How is the spectrum split up?

We have a lot of carriers out there with a lot of licenses. So how do they keep it all sorted out? What's the ins and outs of this swath stuff?

In an interesting article in rcrnews.com Nextel tried to claim, among other things, that Cingular was not in compliance in Maryland over the Public Safety issues. I thought GSM and iDEM were two different balls of wax. So what is the real story of spectrum?

Cingular vs Verizon & ATT in So. Cal

Does anyone have an opinion of Cingular vs Verizon or ATT in Southern California? Of late my ATT TDMA service seems to be deteriorating, with no real help or explanation from ATT, although their customer service people try to be helpful.

Cingular seems to have good plans and phones, but I am concerned about call quality, the size of the network and customer service.

Any input is welcome. Thanks.

Cingular Roaming in Costa Rica/

Has anyone out there accomplished this???
I know that CR has TDMA in the frequencies used by Cingular and that some of the rentamo'vil (cell phone rental companies) there use Motorola phones equiv. to my Mot. V60 Ti.
I expect that the coverage will be sub-par. Having the Mobile Phone industry completely monopolized by the nationalized electric company does not bode well for technological innovation ---- However... I just want to know that in a pinch I can use my Cingular phone to call within the country or back to the U.S., even if it does cost muchos dolares cada minuto to talk!

I have been through 2 different (so-called) CSRs at Cingulars cust. support line and just now I left a local Cingular office where I annoyed a rep. there who ...

850 downfall

where the only carrier that uses it, right now in the washington/baltimore area cingular only has two triband phones the 6200 and t616 and accouding to brochures well have international roaming by nov 3rd, but if you put a 900/1800 unlocked phone on or system you going to have problems with voice mail, and things like that. they choose the easy way out i think, it limits you to certain phone if you want all of your features. we live in ebay times i want my freedom to get a hot phone no-one has.

they need to merge with somebody.
