cingular vs att

i currently have att tdma, but my phone broke so i need a new one. since i am off contract, i have the ability to go whereever for a low fee.

att tdma and gsm are the same price.
cingular is MUCH cheaper, with their rates about 30% cheaper for seemingly the same service. this is for the national roaming plan. while att has a service for the same price, it only covers THEIR system. cingular claims you can roam on anyones tower for the same price.

is this true? anything else i am missing? is gsm ready for prime time, especially in the bay area? it certainly want 1.5 years ago when i tried it, but thats a long time ago technology wise.

thanks for any feedback

roll over question

in the fine print is says;

"Minutes will not rollover untill after the first month's billing"

does that mean my first month's minutes do not rollover???

I am signing up, and I am not sure how many minutes I need, so I am starting with a higher plan too be safe, (and will go lower if necesary) and I thought that at least I would be able to keep those extra minutes from the first month...

please correct me if I am wrong!!!
(and explain me, what does words in the fine print mean)

Cingular dropping two handset vendors

Heard a rumor that Cingular will be dropping two handset vendors in late March. Anyone heard which vendors those will be?

😳

Source telling me they are dropping 2 of their S vendors: Siemens, Samsung or Sony Ericsson

Signing up for Cingular

I just had a few questions,

1) how does the text messages work? do I pay for incoming? etc.
2) and does it make any diffrence if its a cingular phone, (that I am sending to, or is sending to me)?
3) how does the wireless internet plans work?
4) is the insurance worth it?

5) if I were to get a wireless internet card for my laptop, how would it compare to dial up?

Question on the Nokia 6200

is there anyway to change the settings on the 6200 to get more service, or change networks,
b/c my phone only picks up Cingular, which has no service (even though AT&T has GSM towers all over the area)

(on the at&t version of this phone, there is the option of changing networks, but the cingular version does not have it)

so does anybody know any codes that could add to my reception, (like changing networks...)

Cingular Customer Service

I have been using Verizon Wireless service since August of 2003. I have to say I have been disappointed by it. Horrible call quality and the internet sucks. Not to mention that whole Get It Now thing. What is that about? Anyway I decided after walking through a bestbut store and seeing the new phones available I would give it a try and maybe even cancel Verizon and pay the ETF. BOY WAS I WRONG. Don't get me wrong the service was great the call quality was excellent and being a former employee of AT&T Wireless and avid user of their GSM service (but had to move to South Carolina where AT&T isn't covered) I was so comfortabe with the service. I felt whole again. UNITL I called customer service. I had to pay a $250 deposit to start th...

Moving from AT&T & international SMS's

I am thinking of switching from AT&T. I like my current service but as far as SMS's, internet, etc. Cingular seems to be offering a better deal. Can anyone who's already switched from ATTWS offer any feedback? What about coverage in NYC/Central NJ area?

I've been browsing Cingular's website for quite a while and finally found the international SMS section. It only mentions a few carriers in the N & S Americas you can send SMS's to with no mention of European carriers. Also there is no information on cost, i.e., how much it cost to send an SMS overseas, and how much it costs to send an SMS while roaming overseas to a recipient overseas and in the US. Can anyone provide this info?

Thanks in advance.

Europe rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

🤣 Where is every one?
this forum has been like a gost town for the last couple of weeks.
Anyway, i just wanted to share my observation that the best cell phones go to Europe first and then we get to play with them.
Anyone know why that is so?
I thought we were just about caught up with the technology.

T-Mobile

Does anyone really think T-Mobile has "Great" service and "Great" coverage without 850Mhz? The guys in the T-Mobile forum do, I just don't see how they can grow a network without the 850 band.

Prediction II

Yes I work from Cingular at some call center they just came up with 6 months ago called "Retention Center" get a grip? they are trying very hard to keep their unhappy customers by calling them to offer them free months of service if they stay with Cingular for one more year. How sad is that? Good bye! I'm sick of this forum...

Do Cingular SE T616 phones come unlocked?

Just wondering, I know the v400 does, and I was wondering if the T616 does too since it is also considered a world phone even though it is missing the 900mhz band.

Thanks

Where can I get TDMA Phones?

Does anyone know where I can get TDMA Phones for cheap, Used, New, Refurbished - Color, Flip, Camera, whatever they are.

I expect they should be cheap nowadays, as TDMA is a old technology, and old phones

As long as they work and are in good condition, I will buy them..

I dont even want home or car charger

I am willing to buy a huge quantity, if I get the right rate. I am currently heading towards eBay, but does anyone have lots of cell phones or anyone trying to get rid of them.

Let me know the prices and quantity and models and everything.

They must be Original Cingular Phones that were once working on Cingular Network, and must be TDMA.

Let me know Raheel@Comcast.net
