CINGULAR DEPOSIT

Does anyone know what Cingular bases their customer deposit on? I have never had to pay a deposit with any other Wireles carrier and I have been with tons. Cingular is the first that asked me for a $250 deposit. I don't understand. Only thing I can think of is maybe address history? I have recently moved could this possibly be it? I know AT&T Wireless' credit weighs heavy on address history.

New Roaming agreements with AT&T

according to this news article,

"The company is also allowing customers with GSM phones to automatically roam onto other companies' networks in their home cities at no extra charge. This could help users who run into dead spots with no AT&T Wireless coverage but a Cingular or T-Mobile USA tower"

is that going to be a 2 way thing??
(on AT&T phones they could pick up anybody, its just a question of being charged, and according the above, they are not, MY QUESTION IS ON CINGULAR WHERE YOU COULD ONLY PICK UP, WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO PICK UP (IRDB) WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO PICK UP AT&T)

Nokia 6200 (from Cingular)

Is there anyway to manually search for service? on my nokia 6200, every so often, even while in one place, it decides to go down to no bars, and it will not look for service again for a while, (this usually happens in low service area's) my only option now is to, power off and power back on (and even that doesn't always work..) so I need some way to manually search for service.. (on my old phone there was an option of enabling "Fast Search")

Is there anyway to switch bands, like from 850 to 1900??

Why is Cingular giving me such a hard time upgrading???

I want to upgrade my phone to the V400, so I went to Best Buy last week to get it. I'm on contract until Sept. 9th and because of that the Best Buy employee told me I couldn't a new phone until I was eligible. So he called someone at Cingular to find out when that would be and she told him I would be eligible on June 9th. So, I went to another Best Buy store over the weekend and just for the heck of stopped to see if this guy would tell me the same thing. He did, but this time he told me I wasn't eligible until my contract expires in September. Well, I just called Cingular Customer Service to see what eligibilty date they'd give me and if I could move that date up. The lady I was talking to said not until Sept. So I asked her if I cou...

Gait vs GSM

I currently have a gait phone with a preferred nation plan. I need to increase my minutes. Since Pref Nat is no longer available where I live, CS says that I need to go on a Gait Nation plan. The increase in cost is significant! I can upgrade to a gsm phone, but I don't know how much coverage area I'm truly going to lose. Looking at the maps, it looks like I'd lose out quite a bit while traveling.

What happens if I upgrade to a gsm phone, go on a gsm national plan, and switch my sim card when I'm out of gsm range? Will the gait phone pick up other signals? Will I be charged for roaming?

I don't want to spend the extra money to get the national gait plan, but if it's worth the difference I might have to just do it! Is there any word on...

grandfathering?

does cing grandfather plans now?

i ask this, 'cuz years ago when i had cing (then southwestern bell) after my contract ended they started charging me by the minute (all promotions gone, and no plan apparently).
this has me worried that when my attws account gets transfered to cing will i have watch for when my contract ends, since attws doesn't do anything to your account until you call in to change it, even after your contract is up.

also surprising swb had never called me up to try to get me to renew my contract either.

MOTOROLA WORLDS WORST PHONES

In a recent study Motorola was found to be the lowest grade phone in the market today. Even the regular "Can and String" seem to work better than any Motorola wireless phone. Surprising results show that no matter what they tried the phones just broke and broke and broke. Even the strongest super glue could not hold the infamous Antenna on these phones. The US goverment has decided to send these junkers to Iraq to for a quick sell to the al quida and terroist groups to use. This might just help them win the war on terror. Consumers are strongly advised to watch out for these decieveing electronics. One spokesman said "your better off buying a telegraph machine". So watch out and be smart dont waste 300 bucks and stay tuned for more info.

Problem with service in NORTH JERSEY

does anyone have any info on NEW TOWERS? or NEW ROAMING AGREEMENTS? in MORRISTOWN,NJ (and the general New York Metro area)

I am within my 14 days, and my phone does not work the way it should, so I must know, if there are any changes in the near future.

otherwise I can not wait till DEC time, when the merger is suppose to happen, and service will improve,

where I am, in Morristown,NJ
I am on the edge of a orange area and a dead area, and my college campus is in the dead area, where there is a AT&T GSM tower, but my phone will not pick it up, since there is no roaming agreement.

Predictions

Cingular is not doing good on Revenue, and you can see it on their new plans, they only offer the $19.99 plans on 3 or 4 markets, the $29.99 plans offer less Night and Weekend mins (from 3,500 to only 1,000) and worst of all they are trying to get people off their Family Talk plans by getting rid of the cheapest Family Talk plan ($29.99)and rising to have an additional line from $9.99 to $19.99, Wow! it seems like Cingular is making their customers pay for the buy out, oops sorry! or should I say merger with AT&T, which I think is the result of 1 + 1 = BigPieceOfCrap
Where "1" is AT&T or Cingular, it does'nt really matter, if you have had experienced the GSM technology and travel to rural areas you'll know what I mean.
