Not nessasarily, it might offer better quality service in general once its up and running, but spectrum, and local coverage, as well as a million other things can effect your sound quality, including your phone.

WCDMA will have a better voice quality due to the fact is is spread spectrum with better voice codecs (including higher data capabilities). In my opinion, GSM had only marginally better voice quality than TDMA and doesn't approach voice quality on Sprint PCS using CDMA.

My ears agree with the technical aspect that GSM has the best voice quality. The thing I don't like about CDMA on Sprint or Verizon is the "s" sounds are really messed up... but then again, that's my ears.

no I'm with ya on that one...anytime I hear and "s" or a "d" it sounds really digitized. Does anyone remember that series of Coca-cola commercials in the 80's with the digital guy with the weird blond hair that was always stuttering? CDMA kinda reminds me of how that sounded.

i dont know if anyone else told u this...but WCDMA is a fancy way to say UMTS...which is the successor to GSM/GPRS...and the GSM carriers 3G technology of choice. UMTS (and GSM) are BOTH based on CDMA, but just use different network access standards. UMTS is also data and voice, whereas GSM/GPRS(EDGE) uses GSM for voice and GPRS for data. working for ATTWS, with a 6 market UMTS implementation, ive heard its pretty sweet. Most of the phones have GSM as well, so roaming is still available, and free(depending on plan, obviously) hope that answers your questions.
