i need help 🙂 i am a cingular customer, have been for 3 months. love the service, i always have a signal but I HATE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!! they are the rudest people I have ever talked to. i want to get a blackberry phone. i love the curve. but i am also considering switching to verizon and getting the new blackberry they just came out with. the thing is verizon doesnt have early night and weekends but they do have insurance on their phones, all of them. i dont know what to do. i like cingular even thoug hcustomer service sucks but i am skeptical paying $500.00 for a phone and if something happens to it then i am SOL and would have to buy a new phone. So what do you guys think???? thanks 🙂

i would port to verizon not having the ability to insure a phone like that is nuts, plus verizon has great cs and has a faster, more stable network.

Yeah that would be great they also do you the favor of crippling the phone for you so that you cant do some of the stuff the phone was designed to do. And just out of curiosity what facts do you have to back up your claim of a faster more stable network.

If that is fact and not just your opinion then why does the rest of the world use gsm and only a select few north american company's use tdma.

You have no knowledge or facts to back this up. I would be very interested to read what you know.

as far as having the better network Verizon Wireless has far more backing to make the claims then any other network. every year JD Power and associates and Consumer reports put Verizon Wireless at or near the top in all regions while AT&T is near the middle or bottum. many newspapers around the country have conducted their own little drive tests around their city and the majority of them point towards Verizon Wireless for being the best. VZW themselves has real life test men and women who conduct hundreds of thousands of voice and data calls on the VZW network and the networks of sprint/at&t etc and those tests also confirm that verizon wireless has the best network.

Remember Hurricane katrina? Verizon Wireless had restored service in new...

First, NEVER get insurance through the carrier, espcially Cingular. Talk to your insurance company - if they insure more than cars, they'll probably have a home items/small electronics policy, which is specifically for gadgets & phones (lots of companies created policies like this just for iPods). Even if they did cover the Curve, it would be a $50 deductible to get a refurb. You're better off buying it unlocked from a 3rd party dealer, then insuring it through a 3rd party insurance company.

What about customer service sucks? If you've only been a customer for 3 months, and you like the service, you shouldn't have had any reason to call in.

Yeah becasue insurance through the company is pointless and not worth the money you spend per month for it. (no sarcasm here by the way, i have had to deal with that crap before and it isn't worth it, one of the reasons I left Verizon)

K, obivously sgt joker works for Verizon, so here is a non-biased opinion. I too have been an AT&T customer for about 3 months and I came from Verizon. Here's the deal - insurance on phones is a waste of $$$. The Curve is going to be $199 with a 2-year contract. I would go into an AT&T store and try your best to re-up your contract.

On the other hand you're right about the cs. Verizon's cs is actually 2nd to none. I had a great over 3 years with them. I would base your decision on the coverage in you area. If you already have AT&T then you must have a phone so you can switch out your SIM from the BB you want to get and your current phone. Can't do that with Verizon.

Here are your options. Weigh them and good luck!

Hahaha! You could have fooled me! You're right about the customer service tho. I live in the Bay Area and AT&T's network is not very "strong" out here. Coverage - yes, quality of network - no. Elsewhere - good. Me - done. Uga Uga! 😛

I agree with other comments about the phone insurance. You will be much better served by checking with your homeowners agent/insurer and talking about an equipment floater, will get better rates and likely superior service. Paying $4.99 a month for a $50 deductible on a non-data device is crazy!

First off I would check with your homeowners insurance if you have it as I have had many customers tell me they have had there pda's replaced through there homeowners insurance and didn't even have to pay the deductible. Also there are many many 3rd party insurance companies out there that will insure your pda for you as for the cost I am not sure as I have never looked into it just type " cell phone insurance" into your google search engine and it should point you in the right direction. Hope that helps.

first off if u have been a customer of 3 months the Blackberry u are gonna try to get is gonna be full price unless u add a line of service to your account

insurance is better like the srotter said above

even paying for it with an Amex card is gonna give u better options that pursuring insurance from cingular's side

Customer service prolly isn't the best all the time
but if u just got your phone 3 months again

why aren't u seeing your REP u bought the phone from if u bought from a store and let him fix the problems be4 calling customer service
