the automated cricket customer service system will bring about the apocalypse...

Here is my issue: I am an indirect Cricket dealer, meaning I have to call 1-800-Cricket just like everyone else. The automated system is annoying, but anyone with half a brain can get through it to a real rep.

Unfortunatly, that leaves everyone else (i.e. stupid people) who refuse or just cannot figure it out. They all come to me. I can tell you, the most common (and dreaded) phrase I here when answering the phone is "My durn Cricket done stopped workin', y'all fix 'em?"

Ringtones for your phones, NOT EASY.

Ok, unless you subscribe to Cricket Clicks! which is only available in certain areas, you CAN'T send a ringtone to your phone. Cricket does not support any data transmission either to or from your phone.

If your phone is polyphonic ringtone compatibile, you can buy a data cable on ebay, get certain free softwares, and upload midi files to your phone to use as ringtones.

I personally have a motorola c343, and I bought a data cable and have uploaded 20+ midi files to my phone which I use as ringtones or alarms. For motorola's (and other phones I think), the midi file must be 9K or smaller in size, this usually equates to a maiximum of 30 seconds in length.

I use a free midi editor to chop the midi files down and then put them on my ph...

Cricket in TN (Nashville, Knoxville, Chat)

Does anyone have any feedback about Cricket service in the Tennessee markets? I'm thinking about switching and it looks like they have the best rates for high usage (1800+ minutes). I'm hoping to hear from folks that have bought from them...still with them???

Thanks!

Concept

ricket may not come with all the bells and whistles some of the other carriers do, but they have got themselves one heck of an awesome service! I currently work for cust care for another provider, thus having a phone through them, at next to nothing...but prior to my employment with them I had cricket. I was thinking of switching anyway because I just travel too much, and it was becoming a bit aggrevating, but it's not like I didn't know where it would stop working. I LOVED knowing each month there wasnt going to be any such thing as overage. If you ran out of long distance, you wern't sol, they offered to sell you more, where as they could have said well, if you're out, your're out...and not only that if you're out, then you can still use i...

Unlocking and using non-cricket phones w/cricket

Hi Everyone!

I'd like to use a non-cricket phone with my cricket service. Can I use an unlocked phone to work with cricket? Has anyone tried www.mobileliberation.com which offers unlocking directions? Any advice or experience in these areas, I hate being stuck with the few phones they offer.

Thanks!!! 🙂

AOL Instant Messenger

It appears that cricket is going to start offering access to AIM, does anyone know anything about it? The press release said they would start offering it in December. Other carriers support it over SMS, I tried logging in but the message comes back as undelivered so its not there yet.

Good place to buy phones

I am looking for a good, REASONABLE place to buy a new phone. My son's phone got stolen and being an older phone, it doesn't have a replacement plan. I saw on the forum that some new phones are coming to Cricket but, I personally think they are too expensive if you buy one through them. Anyone have any personal experiences in this issue?
