T-Mobile to Transition 3G from AWS to PCS and Use AWS for LTE
Good for ya TMO!!!

Some of the newer 4G phones do have the 1900 band in them once the phone is unlocked.
You know this could work out for T-Mo. They don't carry the iPhone officially but I know many owners who use the iPhone on T-Mo will be very happy to have 3G once they deploy on the 1900 PCS band. Not a bad plan.
T-Mo can also use Multiflow for their HSPA+ as well. The only thing that would suck is that the phones would have to compatible for it âšī¸
All in all this is great trend, I don't use TMO, but them being stronger is good. Also them getting an iPhone (please no hate, this is not a pro or against thing) that would work on 1900 hspa+ which is currently within their spec's means they could include it in their stable, and attract more customers.

I was wondering if all (most?) of TMobile's existing devices are able to do HSPA+ over 1900 mhz as it is
Starting last year, some T-Mobile branded devices included W-CDMA 1900 (band class 2) capability. Going forward, most/all T-Mobile branded devices will do so.

I also wonder if this means they might start expanding their 3g network to areas they didn't have AWS spectrum available previously.
AWS availability is not the problem. T-Mobile has held AWS spectrum fully nationwide since the FCC AWS-1 auction in 2006.
