At some point relatively soon, you should be able to essentially "port-out" your number from "AWS" to Cingular w/o early termination fees (although I would imagine a contract renewal would be required). But as of now, I don't believe there's a plan in place. Look for it shortly.

Correct, no ETF, but a contract 'renewal' would happen.

There is no porting that will need to take place. You are now all cingular customer's, so in about a week or so you can get cingular promos. But they discontinued rollover a few monthes ago

They discontinued rollover??? I don't think so. Rollover minutes are still in play here. Check out newcingular.com you can get the merger info there.

looks like rollover will only be available for certain plans, but it's definitely still in the picture for now

as far as I know this is transperent if you are AT&T you will just become Cingular including your bill and everything. I have ben speaking to many (level 2 or Tear 2 tech depending on markets) and they are pritty sure that you are grandfathered into whatever plan you are in. So if you are planning on upgrading your phone or something like this they may add some leway to your contract to get you out of your grandfathered plan or agreement to be true cingular in January when the merger is to be finaled.
PS sorry about the spelling

OK, here's the skinny. It looks like Day 1 is 11152004, November 15th. On or after that date, you can migrate to a Cingular rate plan, get a new phone, and get a brand new contract, waiving the ETF for your current contract. You get the same deals on phones as if you never had an account.

gust in the stores yesterday and it looks like Sunday night is the last night they will be AT&T so this whole week they will have anything that is AT&T branded at half off and come Monday it will all be Cingular so if you need that $40.00 head set I recommend getting into the store now to get it for $20.00
