What's up w/ higher resolution in the CDMA version.

According to the story the CDMA version will have better video capture resoultion any ideas why? 😕

That was a complete brain-fart on my part. It's actually the GSM version that has slightly higher-res video capture. 🤭 Sorry about that!

The GSM version can capture at up to CIF resolution, which is 352 x 288 pixels.

The CDMA version can capture at up to QVGA resolution, which is 320 x 240 pixels.

Why are they different? It's related to the video protocol adopted by the GSM standards group, and the display size of the Treo 650.

Most GSM and UMTS carriers have adopted the 3GPP's file format and H.263 encoding as the standard for video. H.263 specifies QCIF and CIF as standard resolutions.

Meanwhile, the CDMA camp, led by the 3GPP2 standards group, has adopted MPEG-4 as the standard for encoding video. MPEG-4 doesn't have t...
