This is yet another thing government does not need to be involved with. They do too many things already, which are incredibly invasive and cost money we do not have. I say, no further!

Yeah, I agree with you, but you are using that kind of Logic based on a safety issue?

Look, if you were operating your own vehicle on a private roadway with no other citizens around, and no possibility of causing harm while you are distracted, then fine, do it.

That's not the case.

You are on a public roadway that was built and maintained by the tax payers money. You have a responsibility as a driver and operator of a motor vehicle to make sure that you don't kill anybody due to distraction, thats the law, and the government is changing the laws to update them to the current times, and our current issues.

People die becuase other people text their wives that they want lasagna when they get home from work while driving home. ...

THANK YOU!!!

If this was an actual issue of restricting freedoms like SOPA or NDAA I would agree with everything you guys are saying, but it's not! This is a safety guideline no different than drinking and driving, speed limits, stop signs, right of way rules, and basically the entire DMV code. If you are going to argue that you should have the right to text, tweet, and Facebook while driving and putting other people in danger, then you should have your license revoked. Check out this article

TLDR Texting while driving is WORSE than drinking and driving and should have regulation to keep drivers safe.

Not being allowed to text, social media etc. on the phone is not the issue, I agree they shouldn't be allowed and a summons should be issued if caught. But, government intervening in my private property in such a broad manner in this case is wrong.

What about seatbelt laws? The only person at risk to be injured by not wearing a seatbelt is the person that decides not to. Some laws have nothing to do with public safety.
