More like 300$ to resell a phone.
I don't think they are going to give 300$ to take anything apart and dispose of it.
More like resell it for a much greater value

I seems to be an in-store gift card and must be used in the Verizon Store. I may be wrong. If not US Cellulars trade in program give a Check that can be deposited in a bank and used for anything and you don't need to be a customer to use it.

Sprint's Trade in Program is a little different, it's direct money off the phone and accessories. So if you are getting a $200 phone, the phone you bring in (from any carrier), whatever the value may be, come straight off the price of the phone and accessories you are buying.
I've seen people getting iPhone4S's walk out paying $25 with a case, car charger, screen protector, that's total after trade in.
A very nice incentive. Again, any carrier trade in welcome.
...
very crafty, so if you decide the service isn't right for you then you don't have a device to go back to your old carrier.
...
LOL, never thought about that.
...
i only know because i have talked to a lot of people that left att for sprint and traded in their phone, found out the service was not up to par, and wanted to come back but had no phone. they usually are not very happy.
...
That is their plan. To trap the person in to keeping service with the new provider while putting up the guise that they are actuially getting a deal from a trade in. The carrier will easily and very very quickly recoup the costs of the trade in when the customer is forced to keep their service. Ingenious.

Quit sounding like you are surprised that a business is just being benevolent. They are in business to make a profit.
As Robert Heinlein said, "TANSTAAFL"!
...
Surprised that a business is being benevolent ? Im not surprised. More like underhanded. Look at the surface of the deal - customer gets nice discount on new service.
look deeper - customer who doesnt like service can not not return to previous provider, becuase they sold their other device.
Also, the profit excuse is ridiculous. You really , really think that a company like Verizon needs the extra income generated by a Trade in program? I bet that the revenue, if any, that they generate from that specific plan will be less than 0.1% of their bottom line.
Smart people will see this... which, uhh, I guess means really nothing. Most people don't understand jack about any cell phone provider or their rules and regulations anyways....

Iphone 4s still in the box. I guarantee.

Lol, probably. Take whatever phone you have, see what you can get for it on Ebay, divide by 3, that's probably what you'll get on trade.
