Microsoft Agrees with Apple's Stance on Patent Rules
About control, maybe?
Two of the leading corporations (Microsoft and Apple) that already control an overwhelming majority of the OS/software technology market offer to back reform of the patent system in a way that, they claim, makes access to necessary patents "more fair"... first of all, why should the other companies in the crosshairs trust these two to do the right thing and be so magnanimous with their "fairness"? This doesn't seem genuine to me. This feels to me like a false promise being dangled out there to get everyone back in line. Clearly, the direct supporters of such a measure will be the ones who get to define said "fairness" to suit their own best interests. Read the fine-print and take a careful look before you buy it!

It's about the fact that they have both been trying to use patent lawsuits to squash Android, and they've both been losing....so naturally, being the crybabies they are, they declare that the reason they can't win their baseless lawsuits is because 'the system is unfair'.

On the contrary, I see it as Google who stands to lose the most. Apple has been winning more than they've been losing. Yes, they have lost a number of key rulings, but they've been winning more often than not. Google was smart to buy Motorola Mobility for its patents in this intellectual property war. Apple is winning in the profits war as well... and ultimately, the direction in which the profits flow will determine the final winner.
So, when Apple and Microsoft together support this "fair use and price" interpretation of how essential patents ought to be treated, and then claim that they support it because they want to treat everyone who wants to use THEIR essential patents in a "fair" manner...
