The issue is no doubt not the concept of syncing, but the precise manner in which the syncing is done...yo can't patent a concept, but you can patent one method to implement that concept provided it is clever and innovative enough....
At any rate this patent claim sounds a lot more valid than Apple's claim to have invented the rectangle....
