All this expanding 21 & 42 HSPA and Tmo's parent company is losing $

I really don't get how Tmo can afford to expand 21HSPA & 42 HSPA which ATT hasn't even bothered with when Tmo's parent company DT is losing $ on Tmo USA.

It just doesn't make sense, a company is losing $, and yet they have $ to expand HSPA 42, which a company 3x Tmo, ATT, isn't even doing.

I can't recall a quarter where T-Mobile USA has lost money. In the last reported quarter (3rd 2011), they made $332 million in net income (profit)... that's after all spending, and billions in revenues.

You might be confusing them for Sprint... they've been losing hundreds of millions of dollars each quarter and they're still investing in their network... they have no choice.

The concern about T-Mobile is that they aren't adding a significant amount of customers like Verizon and AT&T.

Well then why does Tmo's parent company DT want to unload Tmo, I thought it's cause DT is losing $ on Tmo.

DT wasn't losing money with T-Mobile US, but was trying to sell off assets to cover their own debt. From the original press release:

Timotheus Höttges, CFO Deutsche Telekom: “As the biggest single share holder of AT&T we will also significantly benefit from their strong dividend. With the excellent result of this transaction we will be able to continue to develop our company. At the same time we will be able to reduce our debts and initiate one of the biggest share buy back programs in both Germany as well as in the European telecommunication industry.”

...And drinks your battery away in a matter of hours. HSPA+ is easily upgradable to 84 Mbps, and 168 Mbps, without the additional battery drain. I wait for the day when T-Mobile upgrades their network to 84 Mbps HSPA+, that will get everybody to shut their mouths about how great LTE is.

LOL... "I wait for the day when T-Mobile upgrades their network to 84 Mbps HSPA+" The key word in that sentence is WAIT. You will be doing plenty of that with T-Mobile and their customer care nowadays.

No, not right now, as there is no network that could be used in conjunction with the phones. However, in the future when networks are updated, devices will be released that support those HSPA modes.
