Sprint's LTE to Launch On 1900MHz Only
What about 3G EVDO?
If they're launching LTE on their 1900 band (which is what their CDMA EVDO 2G/3G network works on nationwide)... won't that restrict/hurt 3G users more than the new LTE users? I thought their 3G network was already being hammered by all the unlimited data smartphone users they have?

No. Sprint is launching LTE 1900 using its PCS "G" block 10 MHz spectrum. The PCS "G" block was not a part of the original PCS 1900 MHz band plan, and the FCC awarded the nationwide collection of licenses to Sprint as compensation for spectrum lost in the SMR 800 MHz public safety reconfiguration effort. The PCS "G" block 10 MHz spectrum is currently fallow, so using it to deploy LTE 1900 will not affect CDMA1X...

Yes and no. Sprint's initial LTE devices will support at the very least LTE band class 25, which includes all PCS blocks A-G.
So, as more and more subs transition to LTE, Sprint may be able to "refarm" some of its traditional PCS A-F spectrum from EV-DO to LTE.
But that will not happen right away. And if/when Sprint does "refarm" some spectrum currently used for EV-DO, that will be in only certain markets where Sprint holds 20-40 MHz of PCS A-F spectrum.

To quote Tom Jones, "It's not unusual..."
AT&T has numerous 5 MHz x 5 MHz (i.e. 10 MHz) LTE markets. So do USCC and MetroPCS.
Only VZW currently has its entire LTE deployment 10 MHz x 10 MHz (i.e. 20 MHz).
