Sprint Throttles Top 1% of Users, Still Markets 'Unlimited'

And if that's the attitude of their CEO, I can easily understand why. What better example can be found of American pragmatism in business than to discount the value of the few in favor of the many? This is the same filthy company that successfully tried to leverage the power of the Federal government to stop the AT&T buyout of T-Mobile.

Hey, top 1% of data CUSTOMERS, Sprint doesn't want your money. You might as well pay the ETF and take your business to a company that does.

Try T-Mobile prepaid; at least their data policies are clear-cut and objective, and they're not run by some simpering douchenozzle.

Honestly, no carrier wants to serve the top one percent of unlimited data customers because those people have ostensibly no lives outside of downloading or streaming (most are tethering, too) and seemingly no idea what is reasonable data usage per person on a WWAN. Proverbially speaking, those one percent would eat the food right off your plate if you were not eating quickly enough.

We can't really get upset about the throttling itself, but the fact they market unlimited and then don't really offer unlimited is not cool.

You can't trash other competitors for not offering a true unlimited and then throttle yourself...however this announcement came last night at 6:40, and I wasn't watching TV after that...they may have ceased their commercials.

I'm in no way attached to unlimited. I was grandfathered into the unlimited with AT&T, but I gave it up for another plan that would benefit me more. On a busy month, I don't use more than 2GB, and i'm litterally attached to my phone. I just don't stream music or full movies. I use YouTube but that's about it. There is nothing wrong with caps, other countries started doing thi...

AT&T decided years ago that they didn't want the top 1% of users, either. Verizon followed suit about this time last year.

They're effectively saying, "Hey- you're an very, very, very unprofitable customer. Why don't you go be some other CEO's problem?"

That's a totally valid business model, and I'm not surprised to see Sprint adopt it (finally).

This, I totally agree with! Cap and throttle is a much more consumer-friend...

$20 for 200MB overage? AT&T is $15/200 MB if you are on the $15 200 MB plan, but makes more sense to go with the $25 2GB data ($10/GB overage) if you esxceed the 200 MB with any frequency.
Also, if you are with AT&T on a FAN (Foundation Account)the FAN discount applies to the $25 plan but not the $15.
Check with your employer to see if they have a FAN, and if there is an IRU FAN.
Or if you are a union member, a 15% discount is available through Union Plus to any account in your name.
