More Reasons To Consider

With a reasonably fast LTE network and roaming agreements that cover over 90% of the US population people should really start to consider the money they're pouring down the drain at the major carriers. For me the math is simple. Metro works well in Metro markets and roaming coverage is acceptable. Figure in that with taxes and fees my $50 plan would cost $115 at any other carrier, that's $780 in my pocket every year. The best part? If I want to leave I just port my number and go.

End result of that is when the Big 3 start bleeding money because of lost customer base, the roaming agreements will cost the other carriers more to replace revenue to maintain the infrastructure.

Metro is not an MVNO and the vast majority of traffic is handled by their network.

I did not say that Metro is an mvno.
What I pointed out, if you read my post is, if too many subscribers bleed away to companies such as Metro and the mnvos, the costs will go up for the Metro's and the mnvos.

Metro depends on roaming agreements outside the greater metropolitian areas.
Great for people who don't travel, but if you do, and the roaming agreement prices go up because of lost revenue, then Metro and the mvnos will suffer and their costs will go up.

It's really a simple concept. If you bleed too many cust off of the Big 3, they will have to raise roaming agreement prices and network access...

Note that the very dark purple areas are Metropcs home areas where all services are available.
Out of those you wander into 'extended home area' with talk and text, and maybe multimedia.

Then you get into "travel talk"... where most probably you will only be able to text.

So, anything outside of the Metro home area is a crap shoot and is dependent upon roaming agreements.

If if fits the customer, great, go with it.
But, be appraised, if it wasn't for the Big 3, Metro would be imited to those dark purple home areas.

As a customer I can tell you I've NEVER been without data of some type. For $240 per year I can get 1GB of data per month with Virgin if I'm that worried about it. It's still $540 less. That said, the service is reliable enough that I don't need to worry about buying the Virgin data. Your misconceptions are the reason the top tier carriers maintain a customer base at all.

I have no misconceptions here.
As I said, Metro, who is the topic of this discussion, has a very small native footprint. As a result, they rely on the infrastructure of the Big 3 to extend service outside those areas to their customers.

Some of you may of heard of a thing called "Tower Priority"

It's a SIMPLE self explanatory concept that goes hand in hand with "you get what you pay for.

The BIG 3 all do it.

If you are on a re seller, MVNO, or wholesale plan, pre paid, hatever lable you call it basically ANYTHING other than a post paid, 2 year contract plan with BIG 3 ...

If a tower is at capacity , and you are not full price paying customer you will be booted to make room for someone who is a "1st String" customer to the big 3. Same goes for data as well.

Most people accept it as in, "well, you got Metro, it IS what it IS"

I'd rather not have to make excuses for or have to apologize to the people who do business with me for my carriers inadequate, d...
