Metro has a target audience and this probably is a desireable feature for them.
Their target audience is high density metropolitan areas of people who do not travel.
Streaming music and video is very attractive to their customer base.
So, I can see why they are doing it.

Are they freaking kidding me???? Their LTE barely gets above 3-4Mbps down on a good day. Bad enough they're sharing AWS spectrum with CDMA too. They should concentrate on implementing VoLTE and migrating CDMA customers to LTE instead this TV crap. It's not necessary right now. They got bigger fish to fry

UHF, VHF, old spectum used by previously broadcast over the air tv channels that is now vacant. I don't see why a mini UHF or VHF receiver would not work in a phone, do you? I believe that is known as whitespace spectrum.

Well the article did mention ATSC-Mobile technology, it's about damn time that technology begins to be used in the US. I hope there are some major announcements @ CES involving ATSC-Mobile.

You do realize that ATSC-M/H operates in existing VHF/UHF broadcast DT spectrum. This has no relevance to MetroPCS' PCS 1900 MHz nor AWS 2100+1700 MHz spectrum.

This is little different from adding FM radio receivers to handsets. Would you complain about that?
