It's funny what some people say

"they're charging it to offset a fee"

FIRST.. they're a how many billion dollar a year company?
SECOND.. what bank company is charging VZW this "fee" to process their customer's credit card fees and what kind of a hold do they have on VZW that they can't just say "HELL NO"
THIRD.. how much could it possibly cost? I highly highly highly doubt it's $2 each time I pay with my credit card when I choose to.

NO, I will not authorize you to take money out of my account each month.. bc you're billing is always so perfectly accurate, right?

I don't know what anyone could possibly say to make this acceptable.

It's very obvious you have never been on the other side of things. So put yourself in their shoes for a moment.

The answer is that they are a huge company, but a public companies first duty is to it's shareholders. Everyone is in business to make money including you and I if we choose to start and run a business. I personally would burry this fee somewhere else and not be so transparent about it.

Man, so when I go to the VZW website, pay with my VISA, it's okay to charge an extra $2?

I think I'll just queue up in a VZW store and pay that way. Pay cash. In nickels.

I wasn't really saying whether it was ok or not, but if you go to the VZW website and pay with your credit card, Verizon is charged a fee by your Visa/Mastercard/etc. for that transaction. Verizon either has to suck it up and eat it or charge you for it.

I like the nickel approach but don't carry it too far 🤣 . I remember a recent well publicized case where a guy walks into a business and dumped a whole bunch of change everywhere hitting the employees. He was arrested 👀

You could try to pay in nickels, but they gladly decline to take them.
