How nice of them...
"BBM Canada says that it tried to reach an amicable settlement with RIM (it even offered to rebrand itself -- though at RIM's expense), but RIM has refused. "We don’t want to pile on the troubles of RIM," said Macleod"
Wow, that's a stereotypically Canadian response! 😳

Canadian eh? Then why didn't they settle over a logging competition after having a half-stack of pancakes in an igloo? eh?

You forgot that wood, is the best eh to make de hockey stick.
All kidding aside, and I'm not a BB fan, but BBM has been used for years with no problems. Its like, lets all kick them when they're down, and see if we can break the piggy bank.

It wasn't simply RIM's use of BBM, it was when they tried to patent it, that the issue came up. World Wrestling Federation(WWF) had to change their name by simply changing one word in the title. World Wildlife Fund(WWF) had issues with them using the abbreviations WWF, because of the confusion. Now, World Wrestling Federation is know as World Wrestling Entertainment(WWE). RIM could use BBIM(Blackberry Instant Message) or something similar. RIM's BBM has only been in existence for a few years.

I happen to agree with you after the explanation. Only difference if there is no negative connotations from BBM, from either company. But, if I was the World Wildlife Fund, I would in no way want to be confused with entertainment wrestling.
