Screensaver?
That really depends on the firmware, does it not? All a screensaver is is a moving image of some sort, no? All displays can.. uh.. display those, as far as I'm aware.

Pretty much any current display technology can support that. There's nothing special about TFT that "supports" animated screensavers.
TFT looks better than STN, in part because it is active-matrix, and response time is one of the key factor in that. So an animated screensaver, or any kind of motion, or even just navigating menus - will look better on an active-matrix display like TFT.
