ATT should look to Verizon as an example of what "aggressive" is.

Well, perhaps without them focusing on buying TMO, they will focus more on rolling out LTE. They've already stated that they would and use a very different spectrum. Which by the way, may be the reason they wanted TMO in the first place and resulting in them moving away from GSM, leaving TMO the only GSM carrier anyway, if this happens. This could have serious issues, when it comes to transitioning current customers over without major hiccups. If I recall, the spectrum is in the 800 range, instead of the 700 range that their current GSM is currently working on. I guess time will tell.

not sure verizon was "agressive" either. they sat quietly and gobbled up their spectrum w/o any hoopla. i say smart move. i would call it "passive" 😉

Verizon is an entire year, and at least 125m people covered ahead of ATT with LTE.

im not arguing they are ahead in the game. i was just pointing out how they got spectrum w/o any hassle like att got. it was a smart move by them. that is why i said it was more passive than agressive.....

What do you mean AT&T has no right to use the word "agressive"? Is 17-18B a year not considered aggressive anymore? Verizon does not spend nearly as much on their network as AT&T does...Verizon is ahead on the LTE game right now, becuase while they were deploying LTE, AT&T was rolling out their 1st tier 4G (actually HSPA+) capable of theoretical speeds of 21MBPS, on top of their 3G which is capable of 7.1...their LTE will be capable of 50+...so when Verizon drops out of LTE, they will be at their 3G speeds, where at AT&T will be at the HSPA+...which already covers more than Verizons LTE...so yes...AT&T deserves to use the word, "aggressive." Watch the timelines...AT&T will end with the same coverage in 2013 as Verizon ends with on the LTE sc...

T-Mobile, a carrier a third of the size ATT is upped their HSPA+ to 42mbps, ATT stayed still at HSPA 21.

By the time ATT gets done overlaying their network with LTE, Verizon will begin deploying LTE-Advanced. I left ATT in March if 2010 for a reason, I knew Verizon would be **FIRST** with LTE in the U.S. Just like Verizon will be **FIRST** with LTE-Advanced.

Verizon hasn't released any plans to launch LTE Advanced yet. AT&T however, stated they will start building THEIR LTE Advanced network starting in 2013.

My point is, and the fact still stands, AT&T spends more money building their network than any other provider, and has commited to contue in that track moving forward.

They do in fact deserve to use the word "Aggressive".

T-Mobile has HSPA+ 42, ATT which gas more financial resources never bothered to be as aggressive as a carrier a third their size and deploy HSPA+ 42. So I tend to think Tmo is more aggressive.

You are right. T-Mobile has a larger, and stronger and faster H+ network. I also wish AT&T had a larger 3G footprint - which eventually would make their H+ network footprint larger. That doesn't mean that AT&T hasn't been aggressive with their network build out.

I think everyone remembers the network fiasco AT&T had back in 2007 at the release of the original iPhone. At that point, AT&T needed some serious improvements to their network.

Since then, AT&T has poured more money into their network than any other carrier, increasing backhaul and extending their 3G footprint. It's a lot easier to upgrade an HSPA network to HSPA+. TMo had a larger HSPA footprint, so it was easier for them to upgrade to H+ right?

I'm not saying AT&T can't u...
