I am an AT&T customer... I WANT them to get T-Mo's spectrum so they can build a fantastic 4G network.

They can do that right now, if they stopped being bullies and stop trying to buy people.

They could do that now with the $39 billion they're spending for T-Mobile. There is no spectrum shortage. AT&T's leadership are liars, and they're just trying to put a competitor out of business.

Absolutely correct. AT&T does not need T-Mobile at all to improve anything.
Creating a GSM monopoly benefits no one except AT&T.
Alltel was a "regional carrier" when they merged with Verizon.
Now AT&T(formerly Cingular Wireless) gobbled up AT&T Wireless back in October of 2004. That was the merger of two "national carriers".
Now they want another "national carrier" again.
Why don't they work harder on improving what they already have instead of using an acquisition as an excuse?????

The GSM monopoly thing is a straw man.

I can understand the other arguments but this GSM monopoly is like a seive holding water.

If ATT does in fact come up with some deal that satisifies DOJ and FCC, it will not create any monopolies.

With Verison and Sprint, the regional carriers, along with the ghost carriers, there is more than enough competition to go around.

All this weeping about no competition and monopolies is probably ATT hatred disguised.

Want to type a reply that makes some sense?

Just saying that ATT won't have competition if the deal goes through is untrue.
Thought that would be sort of clear.

Maybe not for non thinkers.
