I'm not sure about that. T-Mobile USA actually gets a pretty sweet deal if the merger falls through:

That doesn't change the fact that Deutsche Telekom really wants to unload T-Mobile USA and there are few if any other potential buyers. But DT has to keep T-Mo USA, they'll be better off than before the announcement.
