House Passes First Measure to Overhaul FCC Powers

And to government you're only worth as much as they can squeeze out of your wallet.
"And to government you're only worth as much as they can squeeze out of your wallet."
It looks good on a bumper sticker but your point is completely underwritten by the fact that so many governments have universal healthcare, welfare, food stamps, etc... They would just let poor people die like 3rd world nations do, if there was no one in government who cares. There would be no Social Security or any other social nets if that was the case.
Is government perfect? No. Is government mismanaged? Regularly yes. But a corporation is LEGAL INSTITUTION TO PROVIDE VALUE TO THEIR STOCK HOLDERS!
That is all a corporation is. A government is an institution we agree to pay into, because it allows us to resolve issues that...

Government isn't evil it's just a dang tool. It's like saying a gun is evil because some schmuck shot someone else.
The government created the dang internet. So your opinion is really just fully one of ignorance and adds absolutely NOTHING to the conversation.
ACDC1A the government (for the most part) isn't regulating what you can an can't look at. That's also not what the FCC is trying to do.
LOSTANDFOUND The FCC has been fighting AGAINST corporations from blocking P2P trafficing like Bit Torrents, World of Warcraft and other such MMOs that distribute P2P, etcetera. The FCC has been fighting AGAINST tiers of internet pay. You know like "Pay 2...

Well, would you rather have the evil corperation or the evil government controaling your internet?
If we have an "evil" government then that's our fault and an easy fix. You have the power to vote for who you want to represent us. Not so much in a Corporation. ELECTED OFFICIALS, yes please.
"If we have an "evil" government then that's our fault and an easy fix."
Not so easy if the FCC, which we don't elect, is able to make rules without justifying them to congress.
"Not so much in a Corporation."
There are 2 political parties, usually 2 wired Internet providers, and 4 major wireless carriers. Switching politicians is not easier than switching wireless carriers, and you have fewer choices. You can also switch Internet providers without having to accept the new provider's policy on abortion and war. Not so much with politicians.

While we don't elect every single employee in the government, we still elect representatives to manage that for us. Also, let's not forget that our government has checks and balances in place. In fact, a bill was introduced to strike down the Net Neutrality law that passed recently. That bill failed. If enough people were truly against Net Neutrality, then we could elect officials to remove the rule that the FCC has in place.
This bill is another attempt to get at t...

Cause let's face it MOST of the country wants to tax the wealthy, yet congress is fighting hard against that (mostly Republicans)
It's because the Republicans really aren't doing what the people want. They do what they think their God wants, and what giant corporations pay them to do. Because let's be honest if money wasn't involved SOPA and Protect IP acts would not even be in congress. NO person with half a functioning brain who isn't a millionaire should want legislation that makes it A FELONY to sing Happy Birthday, upload it to Facebook and get 10 views whic...
